If i'm not mistaken isn't gooch moving on a free this summer?
Coincidently a giant hole has emerged in the desk of Mark Hughes in addition to the week old hole in the wall. Reports are forthcoming to the realtionship to the head sized holes and Mark Hughes being admitted to a local Manchester Hospital for severe head trauma.
Listening to his recent interviews and how he handled his loan move, he's without a doubt trying to pigeon hole MLS into making this move permanent. Amazing what one **** of a goal will do for one's ambitions.
But for what the general american public is looking for in a major star isn't what beckham delivers. The casual fan is not going to appreciate what beckham brings to the table. The general public wants to see instant offense, someone flashy and is going to score bushels of goals. That's just the mentatlity of most american sports fans.
I'm not doubting his skill, hell as an outside middy I watch him just to see how he attacks teams with his passing. But, is some soccer dad or mom going to appreciate that skill?

I guess it comes down to what MLS needs more? A ripped up gq cover model who happens to play soccer. Or, a player that can come into the league and is transcendent on the field.
I understand both sides of the argument. Yes LA could find someone better to use in their DP slot. But, no one is going to generate the kind of money Becks can generate. And this is a business and revenue is all that matters. And with Becks in the squad they are going to generate more revenue than they ever would if they have a good team without becks.
