Griese has proved what he is in those 9 years, which is an underachieving, lackluster QB. Orton has one season, but again it was a rookie campaign, and you cant expect him to put up stellar stats, but you must observe the intangibles and other characteristics that can lead to championships. He gives the team more excitement than the other options. Even though I admit you bring a strong statistical arguement, The other options are really not moves in a forward direction. I dont think Orton was given a chance to finish his shot....at least we can find out if he really is the guy.

Anyway around it, they wont be in superbowl mode...so go to orton, I say. Griese bringing them to the promised land? I dont see it, he will just be a way to prevent a sub .500 season.

Giving it to Orton now allows the bears to lay a foundation on something solid as opposed to the jello like toughness and leadership of Griese...

Griese has underachieved everywhere he has ever played, including chicago. Orton WILL end up to be a career backup if he isnt given a chance to take the lead. The only way for him to grow into his potential is to get it out on the field, not by watching from the sideline, that is why I underscore that he is the best guy for the job, he has a season of experience, and knows how to win in this league.
