As for those of you mocking Bflo, or Canada, or whatever, hey, no matter how much a place might or might not suck, it's still home, y'know? You might have a really ugly sister with buck teeth and three arms and halitosis, but you still love her, no? Those of you from NM or DC or that Jets fan, I've seen some especially heinous parts of your home turf as well, so you don't have much to look down upon.
That said, we Buffalonians (emeritus, in my case) are a realistic lot, among other things. We know the moment Ralph Wilson dies, the Bills'll be no more. And we hope his **** lives to be 150 shriveled years old...
Then again, this Bills "home game" was really an away game, given 2/3 of the audience being Dolfans, but that's for another day...
I am driving 400 miles north to Buffalo for the weekend, then another 100 miles north to Toronto for the day, about a third of which will be in driving lake-effect snow. i had to spend $1200 to get four tickets to the game, which is the cheapest i could get, because they only sold them in packs of three games (including one preseason game) or eight games (including two preseason games). So in other words, I got four tickets to two actual games for $150 apiece. The average ticket price is not $400-- it's only about $250. But remember, our average ticket price at Rich Stadium is only about $55, I had fantastic seats to the actually-sold-out Chargers game at Rich in October for less than $60, and the highest average ticket price in the league, in New England, is still a touch less than $100. I'm going to get to go to my first Bills-Fins game ever-- but it'll be in Miami weather-- and afterwards, I'll still have to scrape my car windows, and then drive the 100 miles back afterwards. And my hometown will be all the poorer for it. I understand it's a huge payday for the organization, but if the organization has already made up its mind to move north, who the heck cares at this point?
I'm a Bills fan, so I'll do it. Begrudgingly. But how much better would it be if I could do it in my own stadium, with my own weather and my own home-field advantage? With my own crowd, with an extra 20,000 people?
And how much do you want to bet that there won't be a single "Let's Go, BUFFALO" chant started by the scoreboard? Personally, that will be the only chant I use the whole day.
Let's Go, BUFFALO.
As for whether your intelligence is judged by your grammar and capitalization, I would urge you to reread your initial comments and ask yourself, "do I sound a bit like a lunatic at the street corner in this posting, spelling and punctuation notwithstanding?" That's why you're being judged, my friend. :)
Oh, and topically, you can do with your money what you damn well please, Wall Street. But don't come whining to be on that "liberal" 10 o'clock news show JC1984 is whining about if you lose everything and your family's out on the streets. No sympathy.
Oh, and it's funny that in a Cowboy-article-less day, seemingly half these posts involve Dallas. I think the Texans (by state, not by team) are taking a page out of the Palin playbook and just talking about what they want, regardless of the question asked.
That said, I totally agree with the comments that you don't want to be the follow-up to everyone's god; everything good you do is expected, and anything bad you do is automatically cause for expulsion.
I could care less about the Flyers, or any other team, unless their fans, coaches, players, or other personnel are generally idiotic and/or cheating. (Oh, I guess I forgot the Patriots...)
