These are not accurate facts pal.
After it was announced that the franchise was moving..... yes the attendance went down to 11k in the final season.
The 8th largest tv market only has about 24,000 viewers of hockey. Everyone in the area is watching nascar and bowling.
Wininpeg was not financially viable because it had an outdated arena, and the Canadian dollar was worth 70 cents. Now the arena is there and the dollar is worth more than the greenback.
Winnipeg has a metro pop of about 725k, Macon has about 250k.
With a 2 hour drive is another 300k hockey mad residents.
If i were to invest in a hockey franchise, i know where i would be.

It seems that Winnipeg would draw at least 14K - 15K per game. They were drawing that when they left. The fan base is there. It's not going anywhere. Lots of people from North Dakota and Northern Minesota also travelled to Winnipeg to see the games, much like people from all over the north midwest travel to watch the Vikings.

A lot of people are spewing "facts" about Toronto and it's fans and filling the Air Canada Centre. Even though they've had bad teams, and players like Mark Jackson and Alonzo did not report to the team once they were traded there. (I honestly don't know why), the city is only 4 hour drive from Detroit, 7 from Cleveland, 8 from NY/NJ. For the players who play there, they can't honestly say it's too far removed from an "american" city. When Vince was in his prime, EVERYBODY knew him and saw him play on american national TV. I did. And i'm stuck in the boondocks of North Dakota.
