Knew this would happen at some point. He was pitching crazy numbers of innings early in his Japanese career. Name one starting pitcher from Japan in MLB that hasn't seen their numbers drop off ridiculously after a few years in the states.

Exactly. Pierce and Allen put a lot of mileage on their bodies this year covering for Garnett too. That's not going to help them at all going into next season. My guess is a top 2-3 record in the east, but a round 2 exit in 2010 just like this year.

Could be a different story if Wenger does like he should and sell Adebayor. His stock will be down from last summer after a mediocre year, but would still offset the cost of Alonso I would think. With Van Persie, Eduardo, Bendtner, and Vela, there's not as much of a drop in quality up front as there would be a boost to the back/middle with Alonso in the side.

As a Yankees fan, I still can't believe New York hasn't expressed interest in this guy. He's one of the top 3 best hitters of the last 10 years and would provide possibly the scariest 3-4-5 in the history of baseball in A-Rod, Tex, and Manny. For a 2-3 year contract why the hell not???

That's the most ignorant thing I've heard on these posts in the history of me reading them. He won 4 world series with the yankees and pitched well in each postseason. If boston offers him a few million more and he takes it, I could completely understand. What does that say about the yanks if they offer a few million less? It's a business decision.
