Hick's mismanagement of his money has absolutely nothing to do with the size of the market his MLB franchise plays in. But nice try.

"No one cares" What are talking about? YOU"RE the one talking so much about the Yankees. This post makes no sense. You can't keep your hatred in any rational semblence of a point. What are you talking about?

We get it, you hate Joba and don't like the fact that in his first season as a full time starter he's on a pitch count and coming of age in the AL East. Who cares what his ERA and SO/P ratio are, wins are what you judge a pitcher by. Talk about a dunce.

Sure, who cares that it was TEXAS that originally signed A-Rod for that ridiculous money and changed the marketplace. Doesn't fit your scenario, or your Yankee hatred, so just ignore it. Clemens started juicing in TORONTO after they broke the bank to sign him, again facts just get in the way. And I guess Manny getting 25 million a season doesn't count either right? Since the Dodgers were competing against only themselves for that money and everything. But I'm sure that was somehow the Yanks fault as well.

Wow you really are clueless. Because he's come out of the bullpen to pitch in late inning relief the bulk of the first two seasons of his career and wouldn't be in line for a "win" in most of those situations anyway, translates into Joba not being a stud? I guess Johan Santana isn't a stud either becuase he's had pedestrian "win" numbers in his recent seasons. Anyone who bases their opinion of a pitcher based on "wins" shouldn't be talking about baseball.

All of this is true, but as has already been pointed out, especially from people taking shots at Cashman, you can only win by running your organization the right way. So yes, the Yankees have a financial advantage small market teams don't have. They can absorb their bad decisions in a way the Royals never could. (and the Royals couldn't afford most of those decisions to begin with, I understand that) But since you can't buy a chamionship, there are other routes to the playoffs. The Phillies had a payroll about half of the Yankees last year, the Rays about a fifth, and both NY teams were home watching them play in the WS.

I think what's really gotten under people's skin this time, is in part that they realize these signings are gonna pay big dividends. This time they got it right. Teixeira is going to be one of the great Yankees ever by the end of this contract. The Yankees don't extend contracts like this every season, and you won't see it again for quite a while. They put themselves in this position this offseason, and played it right.

So listen, I went to college in Pittsburgh, I know what life is like on the other side and I would resent it as well if I was fan. But money isn't the only answer, and the system isn't going to change any time soon. The last collective bargaining agreement barely made the news because both sides were happy to split the money coming in right now. A large reason for those revenues, the NY Yankees. If it changed tommorrow you'd still have a modern day version of the St Louis Browns anyway. The LA Clippers can suck forever in a league with a cap, if they shared all the money evenly, I wouldn't be surprised if the Pirates still sucked **** for another generation as well.

Nothing you described in this lenghty post resembles anything remotely accurate regarding Yankee fans and how they feel. I couldn't have been more proud of the Yanks when they won their rings in '96, '98-'00. If you could buy a championship, then they'd have 7 so far this decade instead of none. But no matter how many times that is explained, it just gets lost on some people. And I love how players who come to the Yankees are mercenaries, but every other free agent in the majors who goes to the team that offers him the most money isn't?

I love reading everyday all over the internet Red Sox fans going on and on about how the Yanks will have "no chemistry". What, only Manny, or Schilling, or Ortiz, or Beckett, or Dice-K, or JD Drew come with special "chemistry" skills when they go to Boston? Attanasio isn't the only one with sour grapes, I have a feeling if Teixeira had signed with the Red Sox their fans wouldn't be so concerned about "chemistry" all of a sudden. But keep telling yourself that, Teixeira is only gonna elevate his game in NY, get used to it.
