I think what sucks is that the refs continue to fall for the floppers...I think the refs need to get together and target consistent floppers and then make it a mission to not fall for that stuff. I'm sure they know who the really bad floppers are (the fans sure do) and could easily curb this problem. But instead we get the head office fining players after the fact...that doesn't do anything since the fines and punishments are tiny. This is a ref problem not a head office or player problem.

I don't know if there's a harder place to coach than NYC. The media is relentless. I wouldn't mind Kerr getting a chance to show what he's got. Nate would be a good choice as well. Whoever gets it has a tough challenge ahead of them. This team is poorly constructed and needs some TLC (without the owner getting his hands in it).

Exactly...

There is no loyalty in pro sports. It's a fan myth. Players have X number of years to make money so 99% of the time they choose the money or the location...and management only thinks of the bottom line and how to make more $$$. Even most loyal fans cheer for the colors of the jersey over the name on the back (they turn on players in the blink of an eye).

Maybe they should think about an Erving for Lowry trade with the Raps. Pretty sure TO won't be shelling out the money that Lowry will be asking for at the end of this season and I am not sure that Lowry would stay in TO since he becomes an UFA.

I was at the game last night...I thought Burns was one of the only players on the Sharks playing with any enthusiasm. The rest of the Sharks looked unmotivated and slow.

No superstar EVER thinks they fouled someone or didn't get fouled when they missed a shot. Kobe didn't change the rules to help out the superstars so it's tough to blame him for taking advantage of the rule changes. Blame the NBA and their leadership. David Stern and Co. took away the defense and turned the NBA into a dunkfest where a bunch of kids cry about every time they are touched on the way to the hoop.

Bring back defense!!

I was thinking hand checking, no easy dunks/layups, trash talking, not helping opponents up after you foul them, and something resembling man to man defense...those kinds of things. So yeah no blood no foul.
Posted Wednesday January 22, 2014, About: Kobe on today's game: 'Makes me nauseous'
No superstar will EVER agree with reffing regardless of the era they play/played in. People like offense...but when you go to the extreme end of any spectrum things start getting boring/ridiculous. The Knicks and Pistons were selling out their arenas during those runs too. People love rivalries...and nothing creates a good rivalry better than hard nosed defense vs a good offense (whether it's one player or a team). A good hate on for another team sells tickets.

Maybe the throwback jersey games could also include the older rules of the NBA??

Back in the day Lebron would be picking himself up off the ground a lot more than today. He wouldn't need to flop to get fouls.

I agree. As I said previously...the cream will rise to the top. Star players will be star players regardless of the defense being played. But I think it would be nice to see these guys play against real defense.

Well I can imagine that KD would have a lot harder time scoring if you could put your hands on him at the top or rough him up away from the ball. He weighs like 100lbs on a fat day...

The cream will still rise to the top...you turn up the defense and the best players will still stand out. Just think, if you amped the defense up and had a lot less easy dunks wouldn't it make the great dunks that much better?? Of course it would. I often wonder why they even have an "All-NBA defense" team anymore...what's the point? The league won't let them play real d. Rivalries would be so much better with the 90's style defense back in the game. Players would have legitimate hate for other teams and players. Not this twitter war **** they have now. Hand checking allows people to stay in front of defenders and leveled the playing field a bit. It didn't mean that the superstar wasn't going to score...it just meant that he'd have to try a lot harder some nights. I remember Ronaldo Blackman and Derek Harper making hand checking into an art form on some nights. Bring back the defense!!

I really miss the 80's and 90's style of basketball. Hand-checking, rough defenses, actual rivalries where people legitimately hated each other, etc...

I understand cracking down on this stuff but can we bring back defense?

Posted Wednesday June 12, 2013, About: Kidd too immature to succeed?
But why do they get so many chances to fail? In so many different locations...I'm not saying that JKidd will be a great coach but it would be nice if owners gave some new guys a shot. Mark Jackson was apparently going to be a terrible coach for GS this year because he had no prior coaching experience and he seems to be doing ok.
Posted Wednesday June 12, 2013, About: Kidd too immature to succeed?
Totally agree...The revolving chair of coaching in the NBA is ridiculous. How about teams try some fresh new faces once and a while. Seemed to work for Indy this year...and OKC the last couple of years. Brian Shaw and Patrick Ewing have been assistants for ever why not let one of those guys give it a try? I get tired of hearing about the same old predictable list of replacements every year.
Posted Sunday June 09, 2013, About: Cavs very concerned with Nerlens Noel's knees
It's crazy how many of these young guys are coming in to the NBA with major injuries already. Kids are training way to hard for how young they are and it's taking a serious toll on their bodies...there are kids here that play 3-4 games a week and then do dry land training in between on the off days. Kids are not pro athletes and we are treating them like they are full grown men.
Posted Thursday May 02, 2013, About: Did Warriors actually play dirty in Game 5?
I agree

Playoff basketball is totally different than the regular season. The pace slows down and things get more physical. It's always been like that...Mark Jackson should know this. But I guess when you are coaching a team where your best player is made of glass you suddenly change your tune.
