They better not ever retire his number in Pittsburgh Ever he doesnt belong with lemieux, Briere and others. Yes he was a great player for the team but not a retired number type of player.

I agree Derek Jeter has batted second the majority of his career and has been awesome there. Batting leadoff should go to a guy like Gardner, Damon (when he was there) or Granderson. Derek shoots that ball through the right side better than anyone and batting second is less taxing on the body!

I'm a huge Yankee fan and I hate but respect the Boston Red Sox so ? Why would the Yankees or the Red Sox go after Pujols when the have the next best two all around first baseman in all of baseball? For the record Texierra and Gonzalez are superrior defendors compared to Pujols. I believe both men Gonzalez and Texierra are both younger and cheaper (I guess if you call their deals cheaper LOL ). If I was the Yankes or the Red Sox I would not go after Puljos you already have all star caliber first baseman.

Use Malkins cap space and get a good player or two and then if Crosby does come back healthy and strong game on! I dont like just writing seasons off. He understood box office value, ticket and seat sales, and merchandise sales and Jeter is worth his contract right there. If were to leave how many of those new expensive seats at new Yankee Stadium will be empty and how many boxes wont be renewed. A three year deal for $61 million. He shouldn't get any less than he is making now. This man sells seats, won another gold glove, played a demanding position in the most demanding town, and is the Yankees. For god sake the amount of money that MLB is throwing around to crappy players these days CMON. Yes he had an off year, but two years ago he could have been mvp ( Justin Morneau won it ) He had only six errors, he makes the plays hes suppossed to make, and turns the double play really well. Yes he doesnt have the range he used to but he is solid and reliable and thats what you need at shortstop. Name a better shortstop than him right now ? You dont think his talents and leadership could push boston back to the top. he had an off year and still one a gold glove and drove in seventy. He will bounce back next year Im pretty damn sure and lad the red Sox. he an pedroia are friends from Team USA and would make a good double play combo.
