I don't believe that and Rose and the Bulls shouldn't believe that either. If you are a good enough player to be the MVP, then you should definately have the confidence in yourself that if you add your talent to a tough defensive playoff team, you should be enough to put them over the top. If he doesn't believe that then he's got no business being a superstar player and face of the franchise. The Bulls fans should believe that and their management should believe that. If he's not the difference maker, then what's all the fuss about anyways?

100% correct

I agree
Posted Friday September 06, 2013, About: Payton: MJ easier to guard than Stockton
He's talking about who was tougher to guard. At no point was this article or question misleading to make you think its asking who did he guard in the NBA Finals in 1996.

perhaps if he dumbs it down, you will get it

You played his career so you are the right person to decide for him who was tougher for him to guard.
Posted Wednesday August 28, 2013, About: McGrady lacked desire for greatness
But if you ask people now, they act like its blasphemus......basically because they don't remember and they are crediting kobe with how good he bacame after this time period and how long he stayed that good instead of what he did during the time period they are compared during. Just my opinion though.
Posted Wednesday August 28, 2013, About: McGrady lacked desire for greatness
I think 2000-2001 season was the first time Kobe started showing signs of being a potentially dominant player instead of just an all-star. It started to seem that he became more confident (maybe more than he should have) at that time and started forcing things more frequently. I remember the comparison being somewhat of a competition between the superior output that Tmac put up in stats vs the great plays that kobe would make with pretty good stats, but less opportunity to pad his stats becuase of being on a better team. Kobe still tried to get more opportunities by "taking over" when he shouldn't. I thought it was pretty much a majority of people that thought McGrady was better until his back started failing him.
Posted Wednesday August 28, 2013, About: McGrady lacked desire for greatness
For Example, I think if you could somehow trade McGrady and Kobe back then, the Lakers would still win 3 titles and maybe the 4th one that Kobe blew against Detroit.
Posted Wednesday August 28, 2013, About: McGrady lacked desire for greatness
I think McGrady was better than Kobe back when McGradywas in his prime. I'm a Kobe fan too, but the curret Kobe fans seem to forget or overlook how things really were then.
Posted Wednesday August 28, 2013, About: Interest in Childress on the rise
Any team that gives this guy more than the league minimum should have their GM fired. He has never done anything in the NBA of any importance and has never had the potential to do so. He's gotten one undeserved contract and hype that he didn' deserve after another. I don't see ANYTHING about Josh Childress that would make you want him on your team.
why are there 6 guys on the All NBA Defensive 1st team and 5 on the All NBA Defensive 2nd team? Is that normal?
Posted Wednesday February 06, 2013, About: Al Jefferson drawing Spurs interest?
So you can trade 3 mediocre players for 1 really good one? Really? Jazz would be stupid to do this in my opinion. At least trade him to a team that will give you a player back that you would want on your team. It's not like Al Jefferson is a scrub. You should be able to get something valuable for him.
Posted Sunday July 15, 2012, About: Johnson: Nets 'definitely' NY's best
I don't think this is as dumb as some of you guys are saying it is. They have the potential to sell more tickets and build up more hype and publicity for both teams if they start a small rivalry in the media. It would carry on when they play other teams also because both teams are likely playoff teams and it will make money. If they aren't as good as Johnson predicts, I don't think people are going to be replaying this interview and asking him embarrassing questions. He's supposed to think his team is better.
Posted Sunday July 15, 2012, About: Johnson: Nets 'definitely' NY's best
I won't say "definitely" but I do think the Nets are a better team now. Gerald Wallace is great as a 3rd or 4th option and a good defender. I really like the CJ Watson signing too. They could really benefit if they can get another big guy, but I think Brook Lopez and Kris Humphries are good enough
Posted Friday July 13, 2012, About: Seeing LeBron every day irks Durant
Durant and Westbrook are very young still and showing big improvement each year. They didn't win the championship yet at 23 years old. Do we really need to panic? Or do you think it might make a little more sense to at least wait a little bit of time and see if they win it on their second attempt next year at age 24? The balance of power between the two teams depends on how much improvement the Thunder show. The Heat have added some great pieces as reserves with Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis, but there's only 5 guys on the floor at once and the Heat are basically the same team they were last year. Allen and Lewis will do what Mike Miller and Shane Battier were always supposed to do anyways. It's a matter of how much the other teams improve and who stays healthy that's likely to determine the champs next year.

This sounds moronic
Posted Thursday July 12, 2012, About: Kobe: This Team USA could beat Dream Team
Where the current team has an advantage is with the quick PG and the matchup problem that Kevin Durant presents. Lebron is great, but Pippen is the perfect guy to counter with and then if Lebron tries to back Pippen down in the post too much or if Durant goes off, they can switch Pippen between those two and have Barkley or Malone guard Lebron for stretches until he goes back outside and settles into missing jump shots. Then if Lebron starts taking them outside again, switch back. Durant is going to have the mismatch in some way (he does against everyone) but I think Magic or Bird could stay with him enough to make it uncomfortable and get him to pass the ball off. The help defense and the posts backing these guys up will make it easier to not have to worry about Durant blowing by and getting to the rim for monstrous dunks. Jordan or Stockton can take whoever is playing point and the other one can guard Kobe. The centers on the Dream Team are far superior to anything that Team USA is putting out there, so no worries there. You won't stop either of these teams becuase they have tremendously good offensive players, but you could slow Team USA 2012 down enough. I bet both teams shoot over 50%. I would see the Dream Team shooting about 65% and Team USA 2012 shooting about 58%. I would predict the Dream Team killing it on the glass and dominating rebounding and I can see Team USA 2012 having trouble scoring at the rim because of the shot blocking ability of the Dream Team.
Posted Thursday July 12, 2012, About: Kobe: This Team USA could beat Dream Team
I see the Dream Team having the clear advantage over the current Team USA. Magic Johnson was still great by the time 1992 came around. He was only one year out of the league and although I believe Jordan was better at that point, the distinction wasn't that much of a difference. This was during a time when many believed Magic was the greatest player of all time and had to retire simply becuase we didn't understand HIV and not becuase his skills had declined. Magic's not great defensively, but he was good enough. Jordan and Pippen are the two best wing defenders ever. Pippen specifically is the best defensive SF ever. Barkley was in his prime and won the MVP the season after the 92 olympics. I think most people on here are remembering an older, rounder, less athletic Barkley instead of how he really played when he was young. This guy was amazing and would have no problem matching up with Lebron or Melo. And obviously the post is a huge advantage for the the Dream Team. Even if Team USA 2012 plays Lebron or Melo at PF, I think some are under-estimating the athleticism of Charles Barkley and Karl Malone. Malone is a big man that can run the open floor, has great post moves, great outside shooting, great rebounding, the size to play center or guard centers if he needs too, and he's either the first or second best PF of all time.

I think Stern has done a great job.
Posted Friday June 01, 2012, About: Jackson spurns Orlando for 'another opportunity'
If winning the most titles all time isn't good enough, how many titles does he have to win to get the credit he deserves?

They still got to the Finals and were the favorites in the year they lost to the Pistons. It wasn't like a complete no-show.

Gotta respect Riley, but how much did he do to "build"? Drafting Magic Johnson #1? That was a no-brainer. Kareem was already there since 1975. Riley didn't build dynasties. He took over with a great core in place.

Popovic is very good, probably great also. I wouldn't put him as high as Phil Jackson based on accomplishments. If Phil only had 7 or 9 championships maybe, but he's done too much for me to ignore it. There's a good case for Red Auerbach, but I wouldn't pick him either. If you forget how few teams were in the league at that point, you'd still want to notice that after Red left, his best player became the player/coach and they still won 2 more titles. That's basically saying they didn't need Red to win and could do it without him.
