Not to excuse the behavior, but let's get the facts right. Manny did not test positive for anything. A blood test turned up a suspicious T-E ratio reading that prompted the MLB to ask for his medical records. They found a prescription there for HCG, and Manny admitted taking it. You can draw your own opinion about what that means, but the fact remains that he has never tested positive for any PED.

Sad to say, but ATL didn't want him- which should have been a clue to the Dodgers. Oh well, a good player for a few years; now it's time to take the Dodger's millions and go live like a king in Curacao. Adios, Andruw!
Posted Monday March 16, 2009, About: How bad is Manny's hammy?
Wow- 233 posts (and counting) about a guy with a sore hammy in ST. You East Coast fans need to get a life.......
Posted Saturday March 14, 2009, About: Torre: Dodgers interested in Pedro
I'm with HELL_RAISER- he's done. The Dodgers are "curious", but only about whether he would consider an incentive-laden one year contract for about $1.5 m guaranteed. No way is anyone giving him $5 million.
Posted Sunday March 01, 2009, About: Can Dodgers owner deal with Boras?
The Dodgers better be careful, now- the main thing keeping other teams form being interested in Manny was Boras' insistence on a multi-year contract. Now that he has publicly abandoned that stance (finally!), other teams might be willing to get involved. Boras would love to stick it to the Dodgers, and they might lose him or pay more than they have offered till now. McCourt should get over it and sign him, already.
Posted Thursday February 19, 2009, About: Bowa fires back at ex-Dodger
Penny hasn't been the same since he threw 2 innings of 100 MPH pitches in the 2007 All Star game. Maybe Bowa doesn't like showoffs who ruin themselves in exhibition games and then can't help their team. I do like the fact that Larry was silent until Penny shot his mouth off to Yahoo Sports (ironically named), then absolutely unloaded on him. Think Lowe will be criticizing the Dodgers anytime soon?
Posted Friday February 13, 2009, About: Dodgers' spring training move isn't paying off
Biggest problem for the Corp sponsors was the uncertainty about opening this year. Don't worry, sports fans, they'll be there next year in a big way. And yes, the ticket sales will pick up when they sign Manny (hopefully this weekend). A long overdue move.
Posted Monday February 09, 2009, About: Why Rangers signed Andruw Jones
Hey- Madhatter- Are you saying Don Mattingly is not a "real" coach? If Donnie Baseball couldn't get this guy to lay off bad pitches, it'l be a miracle if Rudy can. Good Luck!
Posted Friday February 06, 2009, About: Yankees not out of Andruw Jones mix
Boras is holding out for 4 years/100 million for Jones........ figures some team will come up with it!
Posted Friday January 23, 2009, About: Mets don't want Manny
Every team interested has the same problem- they know that the Dodgers have a loaded checkbook waiting for Manny and Boras to come down from the "5 year contract" clouds. NO ONE is going to give this guy more than 3 years, and everyone knows that A) the Dodgers will go to 3 years if they have to, and B) the Dodgers can out-bid everyone but possibly the Yankees, who appear to be uninterested.
Posted Wednesday January 21, 2009, About: Dodgers' Repko wants trade
Probably true- but also a good reason to hang onto him. Let's face it, baseball is a business, and in business, you don't give away undervalued assets to competitors. The reality is that Jason will probably end up as the Dodger's fourth outfielder this year, whether they sign Manny or not. If Manny is signed, I believe the Dodgers will try to find a trade deal for Pierre long before they do one for Repko. So he'll get some playing time- let's see what he does with it.
Posted Monday January 19, 2009, About: Manny stuck with Dodgers offer
Baseball obscurity? With the Dodgers pulling 4 million fans? You East Coast fans crack me up. Baseball is alive and well on the West Coast as well, my friend. If Manny signs with the Dodgers (and I'm betting he does), the Dodgers and Angels will pull 7 million+ and both will be in the playoffs. Hardly "obscurity".
Posted Friday January 16, 2009, About: Braves interested in ex-Dodger Jones
Any team stupid enough to think about signing Jones had better take a look at video of his AB's with the Dodgers. Absolutely pathetic. What was worse was the stupid grin afterwards. I don't know what happened to the guy who hit 50 hr's, but he doesn't live in Andruw's house anymore, that's for sure.
Posted Saturday January 10, 2009, About: Twist in Dodgers-Andruw Jones split
It's a crime that this guy gets paid at all after seeing some of his pathetic AB's last year. I'll be shocked if any team wastes a roster spot after that debacle. Time to go home to Curacao and live like a king on the Dodger's millions. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Posted Saturday January 10, 2009, About: Dodgers' new closer will be...
What?! Tightwad? The Dodgers had a payroll of $120 million last year, and will have well over $100 million this year when they sign Manny, which they will once Boras comes to his senses.. They have spent millions renovating the stadium, dumped tons of money into the community, and are starting another major renovation. Hardly the definition of "tightwad". Say what you want about the personalities- the McCourts have proven that they will spend money.

Pretty funny, one billionaire complaining about another billionaire's ability to pay more millionaires than he does. That's the free market, Attanasio! Deal with it!
Posted Monday January 05, 2009, About: Some GMs down on Dunn
Yep, he strikes out a bunch, isn't very good defensively, etc., etc., but he might be a very good fit for the Dodgers, if they don't sign Manny. He is certainly better than Manny in the field, and the Blue Crew desperately needs a power presence in the lineup to keep the pitchers honest with the kids. Just look at how Ethier and/or Kemp did batting in front of Manny. Plus, he'll come at a significant savings to Manny, which the Dodgers can then use to sign a front-line pitcher, which they also desperately need.
Posted Monday December 29, 2008, About: Yankees still option for Manny?
Love how every big-time FA is said to be going to the Yankees. The story is probably a Boras plant, to get the Dodgers bidding against themselves. Anyway, the Yankees are not dumb, and Manny would be a dumb signing for them, if for no other reason than what Yankee27 inadvertently pointed out- where ya gonna bat him? 5th? Good luck keeping him happy there.

The Dodgers are just waiting for him to get another offer, then come over the top, ala Furcal, and sign him. Everyone else who can afford him isn't interested, and the ones interested can't afford him.
Posted Friday December 26, 2008, About: Why Dodgers may end up with Manny
Ned Coletti is either the smartest guy in the MLB, or the luckiest guy in the MLB. Who would have thought that 2 months into free agency the Dodgers would be the only bidder for arguably one one of the best post-season hitters in baseball history? It's true that Manny cost himself a ton of money by his antics the last few months in Boston, but he was a good citizen in L. A., and the fans here love him. Best scenario for him now is to take 2 years/ 40+ million from the Dodgers, behave well, and then get a big contract as a DH in 2011. By the way- don't take for granted all the trash that was said in Boston about Manny- the Red Sox have a habit of creating a negative campaign about players they don't want anymore ( see Nomar Garciaparra, and even Derek Lowe, for that matter). While the guy is no angel, the Dodger players universally liked him.
