testing
IF USC's O can carry them to the final game and IF one SEC team can run the gauntlet, it could be the best O vs the best D balancing each other out. In that case the SEC O vs USC's D could decide the winner. Still too soon to tell...
After careful consideration of your concerns, I've decided I still like USC's chances for 2012 and barring a rash of injuries, the player and coach you referred to should do just fine this year. Thanks, anyway.
You're also right that the Trojans have less CG experience than the Ducks (by 1 game). So if that really matters, then so should bowl game experience. USC has won 24 Rose Bowls, OU just 2. Who's playing catchup?
Kelly has done well with his gimmicky offense, but as defenses get used to it, the up-tempo becomes just another soso idea like the Spread, Shotgun, Power I, and Single Wing before it. Eventually Mr. Knight will grow weary of trying to buy a championship and UDub will again be the power in the Northwest. Good luck back at ya.
As a good inside runner, Redd not only balances the offensive attack, he also makes the defense better. With Redd running north-south 15-20 times, the defense won't be on the field nearly as long. Last year the D was out there for 70-80 plays against Stanford and Oregon. Not this season.
I hate getting too confident before the season starts, but with the Ducks coming to the Coliseum, USC should be favored in every game. There will be a lot of outstanding teams with a chance this year, and the Trojans should be right there.
"At USC, we've seen both sides of this issue, having lost a number of players to transfer due to our NCAA sanctions in 2010. But Lane Kiffin and his coaches would not be doing their job if they did not try to improve our team every single day. There is a specific need here for a player like Silas Redd, so Lane and our coaches recruited him within the guidelines set up in this instance by the NCAA."
Ever consider hanging out on the CFB Message Boards?
Kiffin is prioritizing his leftover schollies and put Redd - a potential difference maker - ahead of his walk-ons. IMO any coach at any other top program would do the same or join Ty Willingham in the unemployment line.
