I was just thinking the exact same thing. Caroll isnt stupid, if Leinert isting going to make an impact he will simply not keep him around very long (see Lindel White).
Ummm I wasnt speaking as if an agent trying to steal the bank from a team. I was speaking as if a player that supposedly wants the TEAM to win SuperBowls!
he already has more money than he could possibly know what to do with, with all the talk about how he wants to win, and its a TEAM sport... its hard to win when he takes $20 mil out of the total $120 mil for the whole team. Just think if he would take $10 mil a season they could sign some help like Sidney Rice. But nooooo, he has to be greedy and still **** about wanting better players around him.
I would wait 2 more years, then let Peyton teach this guy for 2-3 years. Obviously it cant be just any guy because look at how long Sorgi spent behind Peyton and he still sucked!
I think TN would be a very good fit for this guy. A good but not great O-line, very good young WR, outstanding RB. As long as he comes out with a clear head and not the "Leaf" attitude, then he would be a ProBowl QB in no time.
I think this would be a good move. Its WAAY too early to give up on Clausen. Give him Green and aging Steve Smith and Shockey, both outstanding RBs comming back healthy. Then spend the rest of the draft finding OL.
An impact player is an impact player. If he comes in and is the next Larry Fitz, then it will be looked at as a smart move. Drafting is a crap shoot, especially these days with schemes being so different from college to pros. Its best guss work that usually comes down to is the guy smart enough, athletic enough, and is he a hard worker. Those are the guys are the ones that more times than not become the good players.
The smart thing would to just call this season a wash, draft an impact player #1 to get a year of experience, draft a burner WR that can develope, then trade Gore for a low 1 in next year's draft or a 2 in this year and next year's draft and let Dixon see what he can do. With no QB and Gore gone they will be able to take Luck and kick start their franchise, take a top RB if Dixon cant handle the load.
Better to sacrifice 1 season than 3-5 for rebuilding. They took Alex Smith because there was not much better in the draft as far as QB so they settled (yes I know Rogers was in that class but he was also able to sit and learn behind a legand for a few years, if he was tossed into the BS in SF like Smith he would be in the same situation) Same with the Jets when they took Pennington in the 1st. He was garbage but the only 1st rd grade THAT year and settled. I dont believe taking a guy because he is the best THAT year is ever a good idea. Sometimes its wise to wait the next year for a better crop.
What they need to do is make STANDARDS!! Scrap the lesson plans for every shool across the US. Form a new one with a higher bar and make it the same for every school. Every 8th grader in the country will have the same text book and lesson plan from their teacher. There should be no more SAT or ACT just ONE standard test. Growing up and going to school in one state rather than another should be no excuse. If a kid's parents move from one state to another, it is retarted that he is held back a grade because of the learning curve.
If they want to give these big corporations "tax breaks", then I would implement that if they want a tax break they bring back all of their factories and call centers from Mexico, India and such and bring thoes jobs back home. The more jobs they bring back home the bigger the tax break.
I highly doubt the Saints will pay Bush that truck load of money he is due this year and will cut him. He would be an excellant change of pace / 3rd down back...if healthy
Then again, Jabarffus Russell was also a pocket passer only simply because he was too fat. And that the only time you heard the term "roll out of the pocket" was when a dinner roll fell out of his pants while dropping back to pass that he used as in huddle snacks.
Moon cant really be put in this catagory. For one the "racist" part that everyone is looking at is that black QBs are runners first. Moon was a typical pocket passer and a DAMN good one.
Well I believe that they will be unique in their "awarness time" in that they will neither have a week or a month. Like Daytona it will be held in 2 seperate complete weeks. Thus expanding its importance.
this is going to be a long season
