I want him out, too, but unfortunately Rich McKay is an idiot and signed him for 3-4 mill a year. He was supposed to be valuable as a mentor to the team's young receivers. Good call on that one.

He's the most expensive/worst receiver on the roster, and his "value" as a mentor has obviously been crushed by his ego.

Yay McKay!
Posted Wednesday July 30, 2008, About: Grant 'livid' over Packers offer
Grant should probably look long and
hard at Earnest Graham's situation. Then he might realize what every other poster has said...

Gotta perform in more than 9 games before you get paid like a top NFL back.

Granted he doesn't have a ring and hasn't been the same since his shoulder surgeries, but early in his career he was one of/the most accurate short-intermediate passers in the league (and still owns a higher career completion percentage than Manning or Brady).

"That catch was the difference between 19-0 and 18 and Ohh Noo! That was easily the most memorable play of last season.

Mental Ray | 06/13/08, 08:41 AM "

Not just from last season (and not just the catch) - the entire play was top 5 most memorable of my lifetime. I didn't follow the Giants that closely during the regular season so I didn't really know anything about Tyree's personal struggles. But it makes the play that much more meaningful, and I think it's awesome that Harrison is supporting him. It may not make Harrison GREAT, but it certainly shines a different light on him.
Posted Friday June 13, 2008, About: Teammate unhappy with Burress
The repercussions of this, Shockey, and Chad Johnson's "holdout" tactics will be realized by the league soon. Something needs to be done to stop these jackasses from abusing the language in their deals. If you want to hold out, you do it. You take the daily fines (ask Strahan, they add up quickly), you might get a new deal, you might not.

But these greedy punks who, as several posters have noted, SIGNED on the dotted line (maybe someone needs to explain what a "contract" is to them?) are taking advantage of the wording in their contracts by "showing up" to OTAs/camp, but doing nothing. And they still get paid for it, just because they're present.

Contracts need to stipulate that players PARTICIPATE in the practices to earn their offseason salary/workout bonuses. I mean, cripes, Chad Johnson told the team when he showed up he couldn't practice because he had a sore back. Rosenhaus told the press he wasn't practicing because of an ankle injury. Team doctors checked him out, and he was absolutely fine (surprise!) and cleared to practice.

So.... he ran a handful of routes, caught one pass from Jeff Rowe, and stood there talking to Houshmandzadeh.

Heftier daily fines for "actual" holdouts, and 10 lashes from the cat o nine for the guys as idiotic/a**holic as Johnson and Plaxico. That's what the people need.
Posted Friday June 13, 2008, About: Inside Bentley-Browns fallout
Another T&R butchery. The "actual" story is that although he passed his physical, the Browns had Bentley run a 40, and he ran in the 7-8 second range (much slower than a lot of the readership on FanNation, unheardof in the NFL for ANY position). In his first practice back with the team, he was running as a backup guard, didn't have the stamina to finish the practice, and ended the day.... taking snaps from other Browns' centers. Bentley met with coaches, asked for his release, and it was a mutual parting-of-ways.

And KP - why just be Charles when you can be THE Charles.

Yeah, because $7.5 million for 9 months of work isn't nearly enough to pay for gas. What an idiotic comment.

"greatest run on sentence seen to date....well done and means nothing.....zzzzzz

+40yrCowboyFan | 06/06/08, 06:53 PM "

The Boston Herald? Using improper grammar? No way.

I think that because you are a Cowboys fan you are a Patriots hater and are obviously jealous of the fact that the Pats win playoff games and the Cowboys lose Tony Romo is much worse than Tom Brady and I love baked potatoes with cheese sauce and particularly bacon bits the bacon really makes the dish though I really hate when people put those chives on top it ruins an otherwise great potato speaking of wihich Jessica Simpson really is a great potato and though I'm pretty sure she would lose on Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader she still makes a mean Pizza Hut commercial she is way hotter than Brittney Spears ever was and farts on Christina Aguilera's breakfast while giving Angelina Jolie the finger.

Can I have the greatest runon sentence award now because I really want it more than I want to climb the Empire State building alongside King Kong while scratching my back with a branch from G.W.'s cherry tree and picking my nose with the other hand.

The best cheese sandwich is on white bread with sharp cheddar cheese and a very small amount of mayo.

Posted Friday June 06, 2008, About: The Fridge survives a health scare
Okay I'll go ahead and say I'm a big guy. I'm not "obese", but I'm a big dude (6'6" 260). It really makes me want to puke when people jump all over overweight folks with health problems completely unrelated to their weight - if he if were related to cholesterol, heart failure, etc., then mock the fat guy).. But as has been pointed out 3 times above in this thread, Guillain Barre Syndrome has NOTHING to do with weight. I mean, really... are the fat jokes that funny? This is a fan-favorite player of TONS of NFL fans who has been afflicted with a random disorder that, although not fatal, can be life-altering (read my last post).

So instead of making jokes about his weight, maybe do some research before you post (THANK YOU ???Dave). That is, if you have any interest in making worthwhile posts, and not just "clever" horse****.

Posted Friday June 06, 2008, About: The Fridge survives a health scare
Guillain Barre is no joke - one of my friends dealt with it when I was younger, and never fully recovered. He's still a functional person and everything, he just has little to no movement in his face - talks without moving his lips and is very hard to understand at times.

Hope the Fridge bounces back, he's one of my all-time favs.
Posted Friday June 06, 2008, About: Specter calls for Spygate probe
Someone needs to make Arlen Specter aware of all the other NFL coaches/execs that admitted to doing the exact same thing for YEARS.

It didn't and isn't ruining the sport. Get over it - this guy pisses me off and I'm nowhere near PA, if he was my elected senator I would be ripping my hair out.

Posted Friday June 06, 2008, About: Texans interested in Colvin
"Well Colvin doesn't have many options does he, I am not reading about anyone else trying to sign him...

Cowboys4Lyfe | 06/05/08, 10:35 PM "

From everything I've read, the only teams who have shown a sniff of interest are the Colts (interested in signin him as a DE), the Texans (interested in signing him to replace one of their old, ineffective OLBs), and the Browns (reportedly lost interest due to lack of dollars to pay the man).

But yeah, from what I've read, it's down to the Colts and Texans. Even though the Texans would probably give Colvin more playing time, I still bet he signs with the Colts.
