Nothing at all wrong with being Ryan Howard, with his WS ring, 303 HR, .911 OPS, ROY, MVP, and most importantly, not a junkie in denial and using god as his life crutch.
The Jays do not have a chance. AA should be fired. Beeston should be fired. Gibbons should be fired. Trade Bautista, EE, Buehrle, Dickey, Morrow, and anyone else 28 or older. This franchise has been set back another 20 years by the incompetency of the idiot GM.
Wow, the starting lineup is decent, and the pitching is OK, but look at the bench. Absolutely no contributions at all. Here are the benches H-AB numbers. 4-24, 1-24, 2-20, 1-17, 2-17, 1-8.
based on OPS+, Castro and Rizzo are 2 of the Cubs top 5 hitters. They aren't the problem. Sveum is the problem. Demote him to something more suiting his talents, like selling programs.
bunting is what makes the NL such a terrible league to watch. stupid pitchers who can't hit, and stupid managers who think that giving up an out is a good idea. People, stats have PROVEN that bunting leads to less runs in ANY situation.
Alvarez can't strike guys out, which is why he's no Pedro Martinez. Unless you're talking about the OTHER Pedro Martinez, the one that stunk.
Cox would be a horrible move. He couldn't leave Toronto fast enough after he mis-managed them from a 3-1 lead in the ALCS to losing 4-3 to the Royals in '85. Story of his career, the almost man, regular season wonder, but only ONE lousy WS in all those playoff experiences.
Weird, before I even knew about this I had been thinking about when Billy Swift, then of the Mariners, had been hit in the head so hard that the ball bounced off his head and I think made it into the stands in foul ground. In his case it seemed to help, as he went on to win 20 for the Giants later.
