Posted Wednesday September 07, 2011, About: Let the Regular Season Begin, Thoughts and Predictions
As optimistic as I want to be, I think the season's momentum will be defined by the first three games. Luckily, we have 2 out of 3 at home. Let's not forget, we handled the Packers pretty well last season, so to crown them champs before the season starts is nothing short of absurd. New Orleans in the Superdome will definitely be a challenge, but all in all, the Bears are going to perform MUCH better than the "experts" or the fanactical would have you believe.
Barber was a great signing, as he's not going to be overused as the #1 back, but should improve our red-zone scoring. The defense will continue to give most teams problems and keep the score low, which plays right into the Bears' hands. Furthermore, I'm sick and tired of everyone passing off this team, citing the loss of Kruetz as some sort of season ending event. We'll have to wait and see how the opener against ATL transpires, but something tells me we're gonna be happily surprised with their performance and the "experts" will be eating their words or coming up with myriad excuses to claim "fluke" to save face.
