Mack and his staff got fat/complacent with talent evaluation ... and it showed.
Muschamp will always be the one that got away at a critical juncture. Extremely short-sighted of Dodds not to pull the trigger and promote him.
They should have made a play for Charlie Strong when he was available.
Gary Patterson would be a good choice too but he's no longer available.

I'm not really feeling this.

No one, outside of a few delusional homers, wants to watch a D1 team play a FCS team. I get it that the "extra home game" with FCS/LSOP maximizes profit via gate receipts vs. small payout, but no one wants to watch the crap that transpires on the field. It's even less interesting than a NFL pre-season game.

I agree.

In the NFL the league controls 100% of the scheduling, and their method guarantees that each team will have played every other team in the league over a 3 year period. SEC could easily do something similar.

SEC scheduling sucks. They should ...

1. Drop the goofy "cross-division rival" nonsense.
2. Drop the obligatory FCS creampuff game.
3. Play a 9 game conference schedule where players in one division have a chance at facing a few teams in the other division before they graduate.
