As for Singeltary, that guy hasn't even lead the defense. And his 49ers team was terrible. I don't see how a position coach can become a HC. Look at most of the names in the HC ranks, and the majority of the best were former OC's or DC's.
I'm a Niners fan, and I watch Singletary "lead" that team, and he was absolute garbage. Unless you want a succession of high first round picks, don't hire him as a HC.
That CFL coach they are interviewing was an NFL assistant, and QB guru who coached Steve Young, Rich Gannon, and who prepped many college QB's for the combine, and won two Grey Cup championships. He is more than qualified.
If the CFL makes you not worthy to be a coach, than why did Bud Grant get hired by the Vikings?
Trestman leads the best team in the CFL who are always contenders, and he has a huge resume. He could be very successful in the NFL.
Bonafacio,Reyes, Bautista, Encarnacion,Cabrera,Lawrie, Lind, Rasmus, Arencebia, Izturis. That is a pretty good order... Buerhle, Johnson, Morrow, Romero, Drabek... pretty good rotation.
They could even still grab a couple more pieces in free agency, and dump Lind and or Arencebia.
The Jays kept key young players like D'Arnaud, Gose, and Drabek, and they got pitching and some more bats. I don't expect Reyes to bat .350, or Buerhle and Johnson to win 20 games, but this will definately help. Buerhle, and Johnson have the bats they didn't have in Miami. Tampa has a great rotation, but lack in great bats, the BoSox suck, and the Yankees have holes in thier rotation. I think the Jays can win the Al East, if they all stay healthy.
I hope my Jays get him. They need a pitcher, and the Mets need a catcher. D'Arnaud is a good prospect, and the Jays have others in the system who other teams want.
Farrell for Buchholz? The Jays do need a starting pitcher. I would take it, but Farrell should stay with the Jays. They have at least some upside, the BoSox are a mess.
Toronto should keep Farrell. The only reason the Jays are in the basement is injuries. He has the tools to be a good big league manager, and in no way should the Jays let their rival pick him up.
If the Senators can get a team without an arena that is ready, why can't Quebec City. The Sens played their first year in the Civic Centre, so why can't the old Coyotes play in an old arena for a year?
Seattle couldn't keep their basketball team. Las Vegas doesn't have a pro sports team in any league, and Quebec City hasn't built their arena yet. That makes KC the only choice.
I don't understand why people are shocked that some athletes battle depression. Sure you make hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars and maybe you win a championship, but if you pull a Buckner, or a Steve Smith you have thousands of people ridiculing you, journalists writing stories insulting you and blaming you for your teams big loss.
If you make a steak dinner wrong at your work, maybe up to 10-20 people know you **** up, and you may get depressed, but imagine when your **** up is noticed by thousands and is remembered for years to come.
All they need to do is fire Regiehr and Ruff, and start anew. They are just having a bad year, a new coach and a new gm would shake things up, and improve things. They shouldn't blow things up yet.
