Lmao...that's great.

Both of these arguments leave a lot to be desired. Massoli doesn't have anything to do with this because Heisman voting is considered on a year-to-year basis....considering that Massoli played with Ole Miss and was nowhere near Oregon's backfield this year, he has no relevance in the grading of an Oregon RB.

And if Oregon has many more studs...why didn't you name some of them? That would have packed a much larger punch.

Homer this, homer that, but Flacco is above and beyond Freeman and Bradford. He has the highest QB rating since week 5, and has put up great numbers after his 4 pick Week 2. He has an overall rating of 90...I'd say he's worthy of a mention alongside Ryan, Manning, Schaub, and DEFINITELY Cutler.

YPC on 17 rushes is a bit misleading. ANY QB gets the opportunity to bust a big gainer every now and then, which inflates YPC.

However, on 49 rushes, to have a YPC of 5 is pretty great. That means that when he HAS to run, he can still turn 5 yards out of nothing. He's much more mobile. Big Ben just buys time in the backfield by breaking tackles.

Blasphemous...scandalous...but funny. Sacrifice everything for the sake of a good laugh.

Rings...no rings. That doesn't have as much impact on this list as the fact that Phillip Rivers IS the San Diego offense. He is one of the elite QBs...Eli is not, and Ben is just outside of that range.

And in no way is Ben as mobile as Rodgers. Ben breaks tackles because he's really big...and he is extremely mobile...but Rodgers is about the quickest QB (aside from running QBs like Vick and Freeman of course)

Just looking at this year kinda made this TD much less fun...we should do this for all-time Un.

That's a great point, Hootz.

His career YPC is 7.1 with a Comp. % over 60. There's nothing really disappointing about those numbers. Tom Brady is regarded as a first ballot HOFamer...and neither of his numbers are that far off.

And he's a gunslinger because he has one of the strongest arms the QB position has ever seen. Whether his coach's gameplan gave him the opportunity to showcase that all the time is irrelevant.

And since his numbers are altogether respectable, add in his knack for improvising, changing games, and making plays, he's a HOFamer no doubt, and one of the best QBs in history. Being a great player isn't always just about the numbers either.

I must say, if there ever was anyone that you could begin to overlook the TD:INT ratio for, it would be Favre. Plus, he has almost 200 more TDs than INTs, in spite of his knack for throwing it away.

I think wins (and rings) are overrated. They're important, and do carry weight, but people too often try to base everything on rings or wins, and that just isn't fair. It favors mediocre players with great teams, and shortchanges the great players on awful teams.

Undoubtedly. A stat line is only valuable if you look at every stat in relation to every other stat. No single stat column can tell the entire story of a player's effectiveness...and even when looked at comprehensively, stats can still be deceiving.

And that % is only misleading if you base your opinion solely on that. The TD:INT ratio is major indicator of effectiveness...and a high number of INTs WITH a low completion % should hint that they aren't playing extremely well.

Completely understood the point...but the small difference in YPA between those four guys doesn't compare to the large margin with which they beat McNabb in %. Yeah they may dink and dunk a little more...but they're still throwing downfield enough to have a YPA right up there with McNabb, while having a completion % up to 8 points higher (all are at least at 65%). They're much closer to having both than McNabb is. They don't really invalidate each other unless there's an apparent, gross difference in YPA between the players being debated. McNabb's isn't that much higher than the others. Not enough too warrant being under 60% as compared to over 65%

Great examples.
Posted Wednesday November 24, 2010, About: Can we please stop this?
He has each of them beat by 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 respectively. While they beat him in completion percentage by 8, 8, and 12 respectively. That's a much, much larger margin. Not to mention the large differences in TD:INT ratios.

If Brees, Manning, and Brady are in the same boat...McNabb is somewhere in the middle of the ocean...and lucky to have a life preserver.

Just over half of your passes completed isn't good if you're expected to hold the keys to the offense. Even if he isn't dinking an dunking, he should be better than that.
