When a program has been as bad as SMU for such a long time, the only thing that will make a man think twice is money. Being an SMU alum I appreciate the fact that the AD and the boosters are sparing no quarter. Whether it works, no one knows. My bet is Jones probably won't end up in SMU. The smart choice would be to grab a successful assistant offensive coach from a successful BCS program.

SMU will only hire Franchione if it has a death wish. I don't want Coker either.In fact SMU shouldn't consider anyone from the BCS conferences because they will bolt after one good season. Hire someone successful (obviously an assistant coach from a successful staff) from C-USA or WAC because they will have a good idea about the conference and the team and will stay for a longer duration.
