"the team drastically went down" because they were forced to play the same system without Plax in it....meaning they had no time to make the adjustment to the offensive scheme. If Plax is not back this year (which i think he will be) it will be a different story. Gillbride will need to tailor the routs and scheme to Smith, Hixon, Manningham and Boss who are all competent receivers. you cant just expect Hixon to run the same patterns as Plax and be successful in 2-3 weeks, which is the mistake the Giants made down the stretch. The Giants are a run based team, they only need the pass game to stretch the field out for the run...this can be done with time to gameplan for it and without Plax. Heck, the Giants won most of their games weeks 1-12 with a monster run game, not with Plax killing teams with receptions. He only had, what 4TDs up until week 12. The point being that the field can be spread without Plax out there, Gillbride just needs time to develop the pass game.
