I can't imagine anyone else playing full-time at SS for the New York Yankees. Just don't retire like this, come back and show everyone you are the man like Rivera
Colangelo's idea of European style is not woking. It is time to change the GM in the T-Dot. Casey is getting them to play better as a team. They have improved since last year. Trading Andrea is this first key to improving the team, they need someone who can rebound and play near the basket, not at the 3 point land. It would be awesome to see Kevin Love for Andrea, Draft pick, and maybe even Ross.
KG and Pierce are your main guys. Maybe Rondo and Bass for Cousins and Thomas. Rondo needs to sulk some where else, and Cousins needs some Vets to mature him into a stud. Vets and youngs unite. While Sac-Town becomes Sulk-Town.
But just think about it, if someone said to you, you can have all your debt wiped clear for one game...somebody might take it. Betting is huge in sports, both with players and bookies. A former NBA Ref, Tim D, did it, and he was a professional. Michael Jordan bets on golf, and cards. A-Rod has been involed in late night poker. Even Rick Tocket, with the Phoenix Coyetes, was linked to gambling. It happens, and sometimes the possiblity of being debt free for life over a 11 month prison sentence is worth it.
I have been saying this for weeks...what would stop some highschool teacher from taking a $50,000 bribe for some Gambler making Millions. It is even worse when people are thousands of dollars in debt and the country is coming out of a recession.
Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Alex Rodriguez, Ichiro and Pettitte will make it to the HOF. But, Robinson Cano, Mark Teixeira, CC Sabathia and Andruw Jones have a long way to go.
Pitching is keeping them in, batting is something they need. But I don't think two first basemen is what they need. Kemp and Either will always produce. Some of the other players need to hit. Dee Gordon is a great base stealer, but batting .229. Ellis needs to hit with more power then 3 hrs and 11 RBI. Maybe next year
Interesting that this story was written by a Houston paper and not a NY Paper.
This story sounds like a little kid didn't get his way, so he taking his toys and going inside and not playing with the other kids.
Grundwal is not that good of a GM anyway. He has given overpaid for players in the past. He doesn't get waht his team needs, but what looks good on paper.
Houston will suck anyway. Name someone else besides Lin and Kevin Martin...tough one isn't it.
I agree with you. This a no brainer of a story either. They have already traded five starting players already this seaon. Even the Marlins have done the same thing, at least they are cometitive.
Houston is going to be a horrible team. They have traded everyone just to get Howard, which they won't get. Lin will be an average PG over the next year and be crap within in two. The GM should be voted worst of the year already.
I wonder how Jason Kidd is feeling. He signed to mentor Lin, and now he isn't even there. Maybe that is why he went out drinking, realized it's going to be a long three years.
The reason I said this was because I thought Wells was still in CF. However, in Wells 14 seasons in the big league he has committed 13 errors. Compare him the great Ken Griffey Jr. who had 89 errors in 22 seasons. And Wells has none this year. And just to let you know, Hunter has 37 errors in 16 seasons and has 2 errors this season alone. Hunter is also in the last year of his contract, making him tradable asset
Wells is still a good glove CF. With Trumbo, Bourjos, Trout in the outfield, the obvious answer would be to keep the best of either Hunter or Wells. This the same reason why they released Abreu earlier this year. If Hunter is willing to take less, then he would be the key guy. Someone is always willing to pick up a big contract hence the Angels with Wells from the Blue Jays or White Sox with Rios from the Jays. The Yankees may be in the market for an outfielder with Gardner going down for the season. They would get a GG CF, and a bat that may produce in a hitter friendly field.
Trying to trade Morales should have happened when they signed Pujlos.
There isn't many teams out there that need a starting PG. However, he in the last year of his contract, so amnesty would be a bad option. Four teams that need a starting PG are GS, Portland, Houston and NO. GS would not want to give a lot, Houston got rid of Scola, NO doesn't have much to offer, which leaves Portland. Possibly a sign and trade with Felton and Joel P. Maybe Wesley Matthews in the trade as well. Either way, the team will not get what they need. A back up PG, some scoring or rebounding.
Unless this trade has Horfard, Smith, and Draft Picks (not protected). Which would be stupid for Atlanta, cuz their starting line-up would consist of Howard inbouding to himself. We might might see Howard pull in 50 PPG and 25 RPG, cuz no one will be there.
