AO is definitely more "punk'is" than Crosby, but GAWD forbid I go there.
Crosby IS CLASS ACT off the ice and HUMAN on the ice. Even as frustrated as he can get, he never gets "real" dirty a/k/a takes runs at people, boards, etc. or even comes close to AO's questionable behavior. But again, hate to go there. Crosby isn't mowing down grandmas with their cameras off the ice. I can go on and on.
I say, and will say again, regarding Crosby: "Hate him cause you ain't him." or hate him because he isn't on your team. Admit it up front at least. Accuse him of whatever you want, but you will not find one shred of evidence that he is a "punk." So, he punched someone in their applebags two or three seasons ago? Whoopee! He sticks up for himself (he has a big a-SS target on his back always...he is CROSBY), and his teammates. It makes him even a better Captain. However, it doesn't make him a punk.
I make a general statement, not using names, and you are obvious a bit perturbed. And I have a feeling you take in a True Blood rerun here and there too, Hank. I am not here trying to change anyone. But like you, LGP and many others on here, I will state my opinion.
And no, I rather not see you berate anyone for enjoying something like hockey pools and having a beer. If you enjoy doing that, that's your business. You don't need an excuse to berate someone? Bravo.
It's easy to mock, harass, or be unkind to someone when you can do it through a message board. It's easy to be a total **** when you don't have to look that person in the eye, and you can hide behind a computer screen. There are plenty of people here guility of it, and I have been guilty of it when provoked, or when I need to stick up for myself.
Of course you will respond, and you should. Anyone else with sense would/should do the same, but I am sure it won't keep you up at night.
That being said, I think it takes guts to do a TD. I have never done one and for good reason. There are far too many dbags on here that I wouldn't give the pleasure of ripping me apart. So, I give you and anyone a ton of credit, LGP for making an argument, following up, sticking to it, and not relenting.
And I am sick of this debate, no offense. Good luck to both, and of course, I voted for Sid (sorry kingeraaa - no disrespect - you argued well). Both are great players, but in my biased opinion, Sid is the best on the ice RIGHT now and just keeps getting better each season. He is constantly working on his skills, valuable to no end to his team on so many levels, and a class act. Who wouldn't want Sid on their team? 75% would, 15% are Ovie fans, and 10% are liars if they say they don't! :)
Who has another superstar on his team? Sid? I assume you are referring to Malkin? You mean Malkin who was a no show last season (compared to other seasons) - he still does okay? Let's name the few Ovie has on his team? I'd say they both have their share of help. But Sid plays with SH -IT on his line most of the time, not with Malkin. Sid MAKES other players better. When Sid isn't playing, and if Malkin decides to take one of his vacations, the team feels it. When Ovie is hurt or suspended for his "physical game," his team still plays really well, and still manages the President's Trophy.
I am not dismissing Ovie being a formidable force. His physical game shouldn't be dismissed, but he should perhaps be aware of it for many reasons, but... Ovie is a great player, but Sid has now proven (as we both agree LGP pointed out) that he can play on the same level as Ovie can, but maybe minus the physical one which is fine with me. I rather him not hurt, or suspended.
Personally, I don't give a crap who wins the Hart (never did), because Sid could win the Cup, the point race, etc., etc., they'll still give the damn thing to Ovie cause he has "spirit," and the writers like him. If they feel (if the race is between the two of them and one other) Ovie is more valuable to his team each year, I don't think Sid loses sleep over it.
I would have thought that the Caps losing to the Pens the season before (consider the rivarly, etc) all but made them/him even hungrier for it last season. I was surprised by the Caps early exit more than the Pens early exit. It wasn't Ovie's fault. You win/lose as a team. I predicted last season (the whole season) the Caps winning it all because of the team's talent and what I thought would be a hunger/fire in Ovie and the other players.
Sid hasn't and didn't need a superstar on his wing to achieve anything he has/or the Cup. Again, you win/lose as a team, and his team followed him (based on their admissions) to win it. So, I would think O.V./Backstrom, the "deadly twosome" could learn a thing or two from Sid. Who knows what exactly that might be (discipline? a certain work ethic? attitude? leadership skills?), or maybe in others' opinions nothing at all.
It wouldn't surprise me if Ovie didn't do any "smarting" at all.
Sid vs. Ovie? You don't say? It's what we all live for, don't we? ;)
Hart Trophy as the NHL's MVP? Voted on by members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association, who some members might be lucky to find their **** with both hands and and a flashlight.
I am not a fan of most of these awards because of the voting process, as I have stated in the past. I will wait til all arguments are in before voting.
(I AM TRYING TO FILL A QUOTA - See T&R - CROSBY!)

Human, and subject to human emotions and fustration? Sure. Crosby has had those moments.
Punk? Not even close. The kid is a class act.
And call me a homer. I couldn't give a shi-t! It doesn't change the FACT that the kid isn't a punk.

Let's Go Pens! Enjoy the game tonight :)
I am obviously not sick enough to get sucked in everytime. LOL!
;)
And I agree, there will always be a debate between them as long as they are at the top of their game. :)
