I wait to see the psychological impact....so many fighters come in with the plan and leave with a loss...so many fighters say you gotta be aggressive and then when fight day actually comes, they come out of their corner really tentatively and end up losing...Sonnen DID come out aggressive and it worked and he STILL left with a loss, twice...question is whether Weidman does what he thinks he knows he needs to do...

some of your stat comparisons are a bit out of context....Sonnen has had a MUCH longer career and has recently been fighting a LOT of top level fighters including a couple of title holders...Weidman has fought MAINLY nobodies on his way up the ladder as most fighters do early in their careers....I'd have to imagine that Sonnen's stats have taken a dip in recent years...not suggesting that your point is wrong, just that the stats, as listed, mean very little and have almost NO relevence to the point you are actually trying to make...

If Mir's performance was anything but dismal, Cormier's performance might be considered impressive...however, Mir did nothing, so Cormier doing a little more than that is still next to nothing...

there is NO evidence that Cormier is one of the better HWs...he and Mir hugged it out for 3 rounds...that wasn't an impressive showing from either of them but certainly didn't suggest that Cormier was anywhere near contention for the title...There are 2 main reasons Cormier isn't dropping to LHW: 1) Jones injury with a likely fight against the winner of Machida vs Gustaffson upon his return puts a LHW title fight out of Cormier's reach for the near future and 2) his one UFC showing so far certainly didn't merit a title shot at either weight, so by staying at HW, he can take advantage of a couple more opportunities to show his is worthy while waiting for the right opportunity to drop down for a title fight at LHW.

it changes the context though when Silva is on film before the fight, during training, explaining how he plans to submit Sonnen...then you find out about the cracked rib going into the fight...and then you see Sonnen's busted up face and barely a mark on Silva....

hehe....hardly....Jones has size but Silva has mastered more than Jones has even heard of....

yeah, but GSP said it like he is brand new to this marketing thing....he didn't say it like he really believed it....he just wanted his name out there to maintain some interest in a possible superfight that would bring major $$$...because right now, not too many people are talking about GSP in a superfight as MOST people realize he is too small and Jones makes a better and more interesting opponent for Silva.

Dana seems rather confident that Silva will still be in postition for a "superfight" sometime after the fight with Weidman....the draw for a superfight would diminish rapidly if Silva lost to Weidman...

which ones are going to be worth watching and which will have fans nodding off trying to stay awake for the next fight?

There is a reason every new big prospect to hit the WW division eventually loses to GSP....

is the guy that is being taken down, mounting no attack whatsoever, and spending the entire fight trying to get back up doing enough to be "winning"? lay and pray is boring, yes, but the guy on the bottom isn't exactly scoring points by being laid on...if nothing else, he is being controlled...

Something was wrong with Cerrone going into the fight...he is normally aggressive right from the opening bell but came out tentative and slow, and Pettis isn't someone to be scared of...

no athletic commission that says "pot is cheating but TRT isn't" should be taken seriously

you have to start allowing the "weed isn't a drug" argument now that it is legal for recreation in 2 states and legal for medical purposes in 29 states...at some point, the commissions are going to have to accept that weed is just as legal as alcohol and stop worrying about testing it...no one gets suspended for having a drink...However, that doesn't excuse the fact that he failed tests while it was still illegal and his punishments were appropriate...but at some point, they will need to review that aspect of the rule, especially if they continue to allow fighters to use TRT as a loophole to cheat.

Dan Hardy is the only UFC fighter to lose 4 consecutive times and keep his job... Sonnen talks his way into fights rather than earning them, Fedor was a gimmick built on thrown fights in Pride and ducking decent opponents since.

your "facts" are wrong...Jim is correct...Silva weighs 220-225 between fights, drops to 198-200 during training and cuts the last 13-15 lbs for weigh-ins...he weighs around 198 on fight night...
