Posted Wednesday January 14, 2009, About: Hint to Ronaldo's destination?
Funny thing about CR7 becoming CR9 -- part of the reason Real want Ronaldo so badly is to make up for the lost shirt sales after getting rid of Beckham. If Cristiano Ronaldo (big if, as United still must sign off on this deal) goes to Madrid and gets #9 that's the same number that Ronaldo wore at Real. Basically there are a lot of people that bought that shirt and will go, "Sweet, this shirt isn't that old anymore." Sure, Real are now sponsored by bwin.com and not Siemens, but still. Anyhow if this was all about Real building a team to dominate Europe they would use the money to buy CR7/CR9 and buy Ribery to play opposite Robben and Diego to be the MF playmaker they desperately need. They'd still have cash left over too to snag an extra defender.
Posted Tuesday January 06, 2009, About: Tevez: I'd love to join Real Madrid
I think Tevez is the best striker United has -- he has more skills than Berbatov and is a better playmaker and more clutch than Rooney. Personally I think United should play Berbatov and Tevez together and use Rooney as the third striker, which they would if all three were English. Rooney is more marketable in England because of his nationality than Carlito. That said all three are world class players and I would expect the odd man out would want to play, so I can't blame Tevez if he wants to leave, especially if Glazers are playing games with him.

Save the money to keep Tevez and actually play Tevez....

That would be Kimbo. Brock has a lot of potential because of his size & speed. If he can learn to avoid submissions as well as some basic submissions, he'll be dangerous as hell. He lost to Mir, but he kicked the bejesus out of him before getting caught in the ankle lock.

Why Playboy???? Their photographers have become all about disappointment. Maria from WWE, Christy Hemme from WWE, that tennis chick, Amanda Beard. It's like the photographer goes out of his way to take the worst photo. Page 6 photographers are better. Then again, better Playboy than clothed shots in Maxim.

Da boss,
Uh, no. GSP beat Penn the first time. Now he's at the top of his game. We'll see if BJ attains the cardio needed to beat GSP.

RobertMenn-MerlinsMiracles.com | 08/19/08, 11:48 AM

BJ lost to GSP the first time -- not arguing the result, but BJ f'd him up. BJ walked home after that fight -- GSP was in the hospital for a week & his head looked like a giant crater.

If you don't like or appreciate MMA, why are reading & posting on a section for it? Don't like, don't pay attention. I don't like golf, so I don't post about it or mock the athletes there.

Anyhow, EXC is in deep trouble. The best thing they have going for them is the female fighting, but they can't get the Carano/Cyborg fight on this next card and Carano might bolt anyway. She can do Gladiators & I'm sure she's trying for other TV or movie work that pays more.

I also agree that Kimbo is not a star. If EXC did a PPV it wouldn't do anything. Fedor did a big buy for a group with no TV. Granted they lost a lot of money because they paid top dollar to underneath guys, but that buyrate was all Fedor. Now, Kimbo could be turned into a star by UFC. Feed him cans, let him talk & look scary -- it will work. Of course the second he steps in there with anyone remotely talented, that work ends. Basically he's a guy that with proper grooming can be turned into 1-2 buys maybe.

Campbell is pretty much a Championship level player, so getting anything for him would be a plus.
Posted Monday August 18, 2008, About: Patriots presented "18-1" rings
Comparing the Patriots to the Packers & Steelers is absurd, just as leaving the Cowboys out of that equation is absurd. The NFL's premier franchises are the Steelers, Packers, Raiders & Cowboys. The Patriots are the league's best team in the past decade -- that would be foolish to argue. But you can't erase decades & decades of irrelavance in a 10-year span. Right now the Patriots are much closer to the 49ers -- a traditional doormat that became a powerhouse. Let's see where the Pats are at in 10-20-30 years before you compare them to teams that have been strong for 30+ years. Until 2001, New England didn't do squat except show up as the team the Bears demolished in the Super Bowl.

Didn't he know about this infected bursa sac at the end of the season? Why did he wait so long to have the surgery? (2)

It wasn't infected until July when he got really sick. If it was a normal injury -- torn ligament, etc., he would've had the surgery in March or something.

It's not really fair to compare the 72 Dolphins and the 07 Patriots. Different eras, different styles. While the NFL of 72 had less games, it had more depth because of less teams, so it can be argued that the Dolphins actually faced tougher competition. The Patriots can also claim they played, and won, more games. On the other hand the Dolphins won a title and the Pats didn't. It was a great season for the Pats, but I'm sure they'd take the Giants' record and championship instead.

This is the most awesome thing ever. Was it reported how far Brady throw his? 20 yards? 60 yards?
Posted Monday August 18, 2008, About: Manning in doubt for opener
I think Peyton starts -- never missed a start, first game in the new stadium, nationally televised game. IF Peyton doesn't play, I'd bank on lots of Addai/Rhodes and screen passes. Sorgi isn't awful, but the offense will be dialed down to the "Don't let the QB throw the game away" mode.
Posted Friday August 08, 2008, About: Kaka's surgery unsuccessful?
Brazil's health care system isn't that bad, but I agree he should've had the surgery performed by MIlan's surgeon. Although I have to wonder if he decided against that after the number of surgeries that Maldini had. Even though I like Juventus, I hope he comes back strong.

Also it should be noted that Ancolotti has to accept some, if not all, the blame in this injury because he played Kaka too much last year. I know they had a horrible schedule, but if he had trusted the Gourcuff against Empli, etc and saved Kaka for the bigger of the 2-3 matches they plaed per week in Jan-Feb, Kaka would be healthy right now. There is a reason that man was run out of Turin -- he is a good gametime coach, but jeez he makes stupid decisions.
Posted Friday August 08, 2008, About: Kaka's surgery unsuccessful?
Whoa, jumped the gun DCruiser -- no mention of the end of his career. Players have to undergo surgeries again a lot. Sometimes the procedure just doesn't take. In the long run he'll probably be fine, but he's definitely going to miss the start of the year according to all the reports out of Italy.

So Mikel is just not going to play?
Posted Tuesday August 05, 2008, About: Juventus talking to Ivanovic
Ivanovic & Chiellini would be vicious. I know Milan want him too. He deserves to play. No idea why Chelsea even signed him last year and then never played him once.

He's good, but I'm not 100% sure he'd make it on either Brazil or Italy.
