The Pens are going to play a much more rounded game tonight. Drop the stupid penalties and look like games 3&4. Malkin in my opinion is a much better all around player then Crosby and will be the 1 to step up. Should be a great game tonight.

The Sox's handed game 1 to the Tigers yesterday after many timely errors. The 2nd game the Sox's did look better so Guillen must have done something right between games! It's going to be a Great 5 game series.

There was an article in the News the other day that Dontrelle went back to his old style high leg kick. Maybe a last ditched effort to save his career? On the positive side Bonderman had a decent outing the other day. I think Porcello will be making an appearance early in the season.

Avery had some questionable plays on Monday v. Carolina. Two plays come to mind with holding and interference in the 2nd. The Interference was a dive at a 'Canes players legs in front of the net. The holding was a clothsline from behind. Way to play the game!

I was hoping for more out of the Pens this year. They really have some talent but they just aren't clicking. Obviously, there are some major issues and Therrian might be the begining of the scapegoating. Granted the Pens lost some players, but there still is a solid core. Time is running out on the season.

I really liked the finals last year. I was hoping for a rd 2. Obviously, I'm a Wings fan as evidence of the avatar but I have to say I'm sad for the Pen's fans and the product on the ice currently. I was impressed with the play of the Pen's in the playoffs and finals last season. In addition I like the fact that there is more competitve teams. It's good to see the West having 8 teams that can grab the last 4 slots in the playoffs. Heavy competition and rivalries are born here. The East is more spread out from top to bottom. Somewhat disappointing.

Looks like the Caps took it to the Pens. I wasnt able to see the game since I'm not in a viewing are but the numbers were quite one sided. Any thoughts to share on the game? Seems like the Caps clamped down and kept the Pens shot count down fairly well. I'm impressed how the Caps have come along in the past 2+ seasons.

To answer your question it's not Sid's fault. I didn't blame Sid I was blaming the NHL and NBC for using him. Crosby has handled the pressure he has been dealt fairly well. I think Sid is highly talented but a fair amount of the hype is created by marketing. He has an easy to pronounce none European name and his image doesn't come off as threatening. Tell me why Malkin, Ovechkin, or Datsuyk don't get the same love by the media? It's the marketing to the "fringe fan".

Spot on. One of the worst things related to the game is coverage on NBC and their promotion to the "fringe fan". This brought terrible rule changes.

I don't think many will dispute that Sid is one of the best players to come along in a long time. Malkin is a solid player and this match up will be great to see. I think many people are just tired of hearing how Sid is going to save the NHL and how NBC falls to their knees for him.

Too bad the game couldn't be on N.othing B.ut C.rosby. It would be great to hear the commentators gasp over Ovie putting Sid into the boards. How would NBC react?

I agree with your point on the team in front of you. I find that the Wings defense seems to break down as they are trying to be more offensive minded. They tend to give up the puck in the neutral zone and/or get out of position. The high powered offense is a great thing. That said, when the D is on they are solid.

Conks will be just fine while Osgood rests. Howard can come up, which makes a decent back-up. The Pens lost a good goaltender in Conks.
