If he is not going to beat the throw to second, he is required to slide or get out of the way. I have seen players slide and throw their hands up to interfere with the throw and only to have the other team awarded the double play.

This is factually incorrect. Go back and do the research. He played 8 year after that, was an All-Star, and won a Gold Glove.

Yea, he was having a great first half of the season. But how many times does someone have a great first half then trail off in the second half (or vice versa). 1970 was only his first good season (albiet he was young), so it's not like he was guaranteed to be great in the future. It's all conjecture used to villify Rose.

WRONG! That just exposes the baserunner to more injuries. The catcher knows he is standing on the tracks, and it is his responsibility to either take the hit, or move off the line. He takes position first, and the baserunner reacts to the catcher's positioning. It is the CATCHER who determines whether or not a collision happens, not the runner.

Can someone explain to me how a guy tho is 6-37 (16%) in game-winning shots can be called "Mr Big Shot"?

Carmelo is the best closer on that team. In fact, he is the best in the NBA. 13-27 (48%).*

And please don't even utter Kobe's name 14-56 (25%)

*Through the '08-'09 season.
Posted Tuesday October 19, 2010, About: Meyer ready to overhaul offense
Meyer is loyal to Addazio and it is killing the Gators.

If Meyer wants to stay loyal, but still win, he needs to march into Addazio's office, relieve him of playcalling duties, and tell him he has 2 weeks to get the offensive line in order. Then he needs to call up his friend Bill Belichick and ask him for tips on how to run a pro-style offense. The only time The Gators looked half decent on offense was when Brantley was back there chucking it around.

No more Brantley options. No more 2nd and 22 after a bad snap. No more 2nd and 9 after a first down HB dive into a brick wall by a 5'9 180 lb runningback. The Gators have too much talent to be playing so poorly.

If I hear one more person say "they don't have the right players for Urban's system" I am gonna flip my ****. Coaches have to adapt to the situations. THAT is what makes a good coach.

Since last year's SEC Championship game, I have seen Meyer get out-coached by Dan Mullen, Skip Holtz, Les Miles (LES MILES?!), and Nick Saban (that boils my blood) twice.

Come on Urban.

He isn't the one who allowed penetration on the line where Dansby could hit him 3 yards in the backfield. I watched that game against Miami. He IS the best back in football.

Ok Mike, I will take Rodgers and all your draft picks. You can have Cutler and Ricky Williams.

Dear ESPN,

Please consider this a formal application to oversee Truth and Rumors. You will find that I am more than qualified.

School Experience-
1998-2002- Coral Gables High School- Graduated in the top 11th %
2002-2007- University of Florida- Never actually graduated per se, but my little sister did. (That was annoying). I took a 1-credit Intro to Journalism course and got a B+.

Career Highlights-

- Was one of two students in the Red Robin Reading Group in Ms. Lopez's kindergarten class.
- Wrote a 3-page essay comparing and contrasting Hamlet and The Lion King. That was epic.
- I am the editor of a blog wherein I talk **** about pretty much everything and sometimes talk about sports. Unfortunately, I haven't updated it since May.

Other [over]Qualifications:

- I can spell.
- I can read.
- My IQ is a point of two above 76.
- I know anywhere between three and four things about sports.
- I don't mean to brag, but in the past, my bedroom skills have been referred to as "mediocre."

Thanks for your consideration. I can be reached at Just leave a message or something.

With All The Love I Have In This Little Heart,

P.S. I hope this doesn't count as spamming the message board. I was just trying to comment on the lack of quality of this section of Succinctness is not my strong suit.
Posted Wednesday September 08, 2010, About: Maddon advocates for balanced schedule
That's crap. Since in 16 years wince the wildcard was added to the playoffs, 9 wildcard teams have made it to the World Series. 4 of them have won. Any team that makes the playoffs has a legit chance to make the series. Getting there is half the battle. There is no reason to make it more difficult for some teams to make it than others.

Seriously, imagine playing 18 games each against the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays and Blue Jays. (collectively 89 games above .500)

Then imagine the team you are battling for a playoff spot gets 18 games each against the Twins, White Sox, Tigers, and Royals. (16 games over .500)

Is that fair? Is that even close to fair?

Why not balance the schedule? Baseball can easily do it. There is no more travel than there normally is.
Posted Sunday July 18, 2010, About: LeBron at point guard?
He can run the point offensively, but defensively, he would be better off guarding guys like Carmelo Anthony and Paul Pierce, instead of Rajon Rondo and Deron Williams.
Posted Thursday July 15, 2010, About: Richardson sparks Heat rivalry with Howard comment
Q-Rich needs to realize that playoff games are won in the last 4 minutes of a game. And that "big fella" is a liability down the stretch...if he even makes it all the way through the game without fouling out. I like Howard a lot, and he is a great player, but his game has too many holes. He's the best interior defender in the game bar-none, but he doesn't score enough. When the best player on your team averages 17 ppg, you are not going to win a championship. Once he learns how to hit free throws, and how to play with fouls (and stay out of foul trouble in the first place), then he will be a super star, capable of carrying his team to the next level. Until then, the Magic are going to remain on the cusp.

He should seek guidance from Alonzo Mourning. He had the tendency of getting into foul trouble earlier in his career. As he matured, he learned how to avoid silly fouls, and play effectively with 4 or 5 fouls.

Kobe did it by himself? Really? When Kobe was "by himself" he complained and tried to get traded away. He demanded the Lakers acquire more talent. When Kobe had Smush Parker, Chris Mihm, and Kwame Brown, he won 34 games. Enter Odom, Gasol, Bynum, and Fisher and now you have the Champion Lakers.

Yeah. Kobe did it himself.
