During his second year at BSU, he was suspended from the team early in the year for conduct detrimental to the team. Supposedly it was a fight with another team member that led to the suspension. But after sitting that year, he appeared to "get it" and didn't seem to be a problem until he got to Detroit.
I'm always amused when players complain about fans booing. Never hear them saying one thing about ticket prices being sky high and out of reach for many folks? With the astronomical earnings the guys make, shouldn't we have some latitude in our expectations? Afterall, we are footing the bill?
He's always been a competitor and without the distractions he had this year with Dancing with the Stars, he may be able to pull of a few more years of playing well. I am the biggest Steeler hater in the world, but I've always had a ton of respect for Ward because he is so hard nosed as a WR!
Charles being Charles! I've gone from absolutely hating the guy to just the opposite over the past 20 years. Hi beauty is in not letting what others say about him bother him at all. It's almost like he relishes in it. I wish everyone wore their true colors on the outside like Charles does! If you want to know how Charles feels, just ask, because you'll get your answer and not some sugar coated carefully constructed string of words that answer nothing! I wish everyone I knew was so transparent as he is.
Peterson became OC at Boise State in 2001 Dan Hawkins first year as head coach. He really didn't want to be a head coach but was persuaded to take the job by his peers and players, when Hawkins left for Boulder. They have an infinently better choice of recruits now than they did 5 years ago when they recruited Moore so while Kellen will be tough to replace, Boise State has a long history of strong QB recruiting and play. But they also lose both running backs, d line, and linebackers and several other positions. My guess is a 7-5, 8-4 rebuilding year but they will be back strong in 2013. BTW, Justin Wilcox was the DC that went to Tennessee but he just got hired away to Washington by Sarkisian to replace Nick "the dolt" Holt.
If, and it's a astronomically large IF, they were to get Chris Peterson talked into coming, it would probably break the record for a coaching contract. As a BSU fan, I'm not to concerned he will take the job, but he is exactly what they need right now. I can't imagine any name coach going to PSU without about 20 dump trucks full of large bills.
When you use the color of one's skin in a disparaging comment, it is, always has, and always will be considered racist! The relationship they once had has nothing to do with it. When someone makes a comment like that, they insert race into it for negative effect. If you don't consider that racist, perhaps you need to reassess your own beliefs.
Local word has it that Curry is just too slow making decisions during a game, and there ain't no cure for that. Pete will be lucky to get a 5th rounder out of Curry without buying down some of that contract.
You are correct, but the golf press is brutal and always trying to make something out of nothing. I doubt one could use more than one hand worth of fingers in counting the good golf journalists!
Tiki has never fit the tough mold of a Pittsburgh running back! No matter how many spin doctors your agent puts on this Tiki, you have a long hard mine filled road ahead of you. Did I mention it's uphill all the way?
Seattle would be well advised to trade Bedard now before he has another injury for a good young bat or two. Seattles pitching is solid with or without Bedard but their bats have been horrible and need some help. Make a package deal with Bedard and Figgins for ???
Oldtimer hit the nail on the head. Boise is asking 1.2mil per away appearance without a matching home game. They have a Top 10 program and feel they are worth the extra 2-300K over lesser programs. They are hoping to expand their own stadium over the next few years to attract better opponents and conference affiliation. However you feel about Boise State, you have to admit that they have been the little engine that could, and they are doing the same in the marketing end until they get on par with bigger programs.
Oldtimer's comment 194 hit the nail on the head. Boise wants 1.2 mil for a one and done or 2 for 1 for the extra road game. They have a consistant top 10 program and feel they deserve the extra $$$. Plus they are trying to raise cash to help expand their stadium to attract better opponents and/or conference affiliation. You can argue all you want about whether you believe Boise State belongs, but they are proving to be the little engine that could both from an on field standpoint as well as their marketing rise to prominence.
I forget sometimes that the education in SEC country leaves a little to be desired so let me explain something you're obviously not getting. IF THESE TEAMS BSU IS PLAYING WANT A ONE AND DONE OR A TWO FOR ONE, BSU IS SAYING FINE! PAY US 1.2 MIL TO COME TO YOUR HOUSE. WHY? SO THEY CAN BUILD THAT BIGGER HOUSE TO GET MORE HOME AND HOMES!
I've been a huge BSU fan since the 70's. I'm an alum and have two children currently attending Boise State, so my comments are obviously going to be bias, unlike (of course) Mr. G. Gordon Gee's comments.
My sincere wish is to have BSU in the BCS Championship game, but please God, if that doesn't happen, please, please, please let Wisc/MSU lose this weekend and have a Boise State/Ohio State Rose Bowl. I know it would be beneath Mr. G. Gordon Gee's Ohio State team to play the lowly sisters of the poor, but it would make for such great drama leading up to kickoff.
Is it making more sense yet?
