bring back marbury for the minimum. he'll shoot better than last year, seeing how he hadn't played in over a year, and will play with at least a shred of confidence. everyone has a preconceived notion that marbury kills your team, but from what i saw there is no doubt in my mind that he is better than 95% of the backup pgs in the league

if boston misses out on hossa, i hope they can land gaborik next year. i'd rather chiarelli spend 8+ million a year on gaborik, he's the type of goal scorer we haven't had since...neely. either way, the new regime needs a star scorer to have around savard, lucic, chara, and rask if they are going to truly build a championship-contending team. above-average veteran signings don't make a team better unless there is already a solid core.

but if he doesn't come to boston, that marleau swap sounds good for both teams. thornton would turn gaborik into a superstar and marleau would turn things around as a #1 center in minnesota.

he'd fit nicely in boston on a line with savard and lucic. muzz is washed up and they need scoring, even with kessel's breakthrough during the playoffs. but i wouldn't pay 3 million or more for someone who has never played in the nhl. boston's better off paying 7-8 million a year for a proven scorer like hossa.
