Walker was officially a TE but was more like the old H-back position that the Redskins popularized. While he didn't have the best hands, his production will be missed.

There is now speculation that Ed Reed could follow Anquan Boldin to the Bay. Reed has now hired an agent, something he hasn't had in the past.

If the reports of the details are true, heckuva deal pulled off by the Niners' brass. A second round pick this year and a conditional third round pick next year that could become a second round pick is great. I'd heard speculation that a fourth rounder could be all the Niners should expect in return for Alex Smith. Wonder what the Vikings would take for Percy Harvin...

The Packers' game plan will be twofold. First, they want to keep Frank Gore from beating them. Second, they want to take away Kaepernick's favorite target: Michael Crabtree. I would think that three offensive weapons for the Niners have a chance to make some big plays, Vernon Davis, Randy Moss and Lamichael James.

This scenario isn't possible. If Green Bay wins this weekend, they go to San Francisco for the Divisional Round playoff game.

This is a key point. One of the guys on the NFL Network pointed this out also. He said officiating will play a big part in this game. If the game is called "tight", the Seahawks will suffer as a result. Garcon is the kind of receiver that can give those big DBs trouble. Garcon's ability to avoid jams and the line of scrimmage will test Seattle.

What happened to my team today? Why are they playing this poorly? Is Seattle this much better than the Niners? They can't stop a nosebleed. It was well into the third quarter before I knew Seattle had a punter on their roster. He only made on appearance. This is desheartening.

The fact that it's a night game helps to overcome the jet lag issue. The weather is supposed to be inclimate. That usually doesn't hurt the Pats. It could hurt the Niners. The more mobile quarterback could help to offset the Niners' disadvantage. The Pats will try to run the ball down the Niners' throats. I expect big games from Willis, Bowman and Goldson. If not, it will be a long day for the guys in crimson and gold.

I'm not sure if you simply disagree with my point or you just don't get my point. Either way, look at what you said, "the injury is what gave Hargaugh his out". That is another way of saying that the injury was just a means to an end. It was not the reason for the replacement, it was the excuse.

Alex Smith did NOT lose his job because of an injury. The injury provided Harbaugh with an opportunity to play the quarterback that he wanted to play. We all know that the Niners can be good with Alex Smith at the helm. Harbaugh is gambling that the team can be GREAT with Kaepernick under center. Harbaugh may be wrong. Time will tell. I would rather have a coach who is willing to take the gamble...even if it's a bust. Settling for mediocrity is not a way to advance.
Posted Tuesday November 27, 2012, About: Why Alex Smith was not successful with the 49ers
Harbaugh has probably never been happy with the prospect of Smith being the quarterback. The Niners spent a second-round pick on Kaepernick in 2011 and then pursued Peyton Manning last off season. I can imagine Harbaugh waiting first for Kaepernick to develop then waiting for an opportunity to put him in the starting lineup. I think that's where we are now.
Posted Tuesday November 27, 2012, About: Why Alex Smith was not successful with the 49ers
Alex Smith is completely and wholly competent as a quarterback. The problem with that is that the Niners feel like they're close to the ultimate prize in the NFL. There are games in which the quarterback has to will his team to success. I think the beginning of Smith's career really stifled his ability to lead like that. What's even more unfortunate for Smith is that the team that he helped to build will make Kaepernick a much better quarterback than Smith himself. The success Kaepernick is experiencing early on is a huge confidence builder. I'm sure Smith thinks it's not fair. He's absolutely right.

It's clear that fans lay the blame squarely on Jones' lap. A breast cancer awareness spot ran on the big screen during one break. It was a series of individual monologues by members of the Cowboys family. Jerry Jones appeared three or four times. Every time he was on screen, the crowd erupted in a chorus of boos. I'm not a Cowboys fan but, it was almost embarrassing.

If greatness is measured by popularity and a loyal following, Kim Kardashian is probably the greatest living American. The "style over substance" mentality in our society is sickening. This "Cash Cow" rant wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so common among the lemmings that make up a large percentage of the population. The last three words that you chose for your title should ring in your ears over and over again.

The Dolphins are suffering from a dearth of talent and will likely not be very good. The Bucs don't have that problem and could win five to seven games. The team that I believe will stink the place up this year is the St. Louis Rams.
Posted Tuesday August 07, 2012, About: Pro Bowl season for Owens
I think the Pro Bowl is a stretch but, I think Owens will be as productive as he was in 2010. As stated above, the quarterback position is unproven in Seattle.
