Posted Tuesday October 13, 2009, About: AD has 'concerns' about Georgia football
UGA fans are unrealistic. They seem to believe that UGA is up there with Alabama historically. Richt's record at UGA is better than Dooley's. Plus, he's a better human being than most coaches.

I'll grant that being a good human being might make him a lousier coach, but getting rid of Richt would be incredibly stupid. They might easily get another Ray Goff and spend 5 years as a .500 team.

Maybe he does suck, but it's not like he's had much of a chance to prove it either way. How many games has he started? Neither Manning, nor Elway, nor Aikman were great the first 16-20 games of their careers.

Let's hope it's not a god damn dome next time.

I grew up in Columbus, Ga. For some weird reason several guys from there ended up at Wisconsin. I believe I'm correct in saying that one of them, a CB ended up playing for Buffalo so he must have been pretty good.

If you go back far enough (and I do, alas, I'm 55) it's a racial thing and the African-American kids couldn't play in the SEC.

That's obviously not the case today. Still, if I had the choice, and I was good enough, I'd try to get a scholarship to Hawaii.

They were probably the 5% of people from Tennessee who can read.

They only gave me 4 * above, but the word was actually 7 letters long and compared them to cats.

What a bunch of **** the astros are.

When did he say this?

Sorry, I was out shooting up the neighborhood and missed it.

Francoeur has never met a ball (as opposed to a strike) he wouldn't swing at. He seems like a nice guy, but a dead dog could have a better On Base Percentage than he does.
Posted Monday May 25, 2009, About: Clippers entertaining offers for top pick
Maybe they can trade the pick for the rights to Elgin Baylor. He was great back in the 60s

Not that it's all that important, but Jack Youngblood was a defensive end, not a LB.
Posted Friday May 15, 2009, About: Stern: Cuban's apology not enough
So he said something? How many of us have said something like that at some time? Big deal. Get over it. This whole thing is idiotic. I don't know whether Martin is a thug or not. I don't give a god damn about basketball but if you just ignore it then it goes away. Martin ought to just ignore it all and no one would remember it.

This is the way children react, that is, both Cuban and Martin.
Posted Sunday May 10, 2009, About: Drogba on way out
Yeah yeah whatever. The worst mistake the ref made was the red card and that helped Chelsea, or should have. But even with the man advantage they couldn't score another goal. Had they, the whole thing would be moot. At least from the Chelsea side.
Posted Thursday April 23, 2009, About: How far could Stafford fall?
Also, being from right here in Athens, I've never seen that much from him. Lots of guys have good arms. When I was in high school I could throw the ball 70 yards, but I might hit you, or I might hit the car on the other side of the fence. I never saw anything that made me think he was a great QB. I'd take a tackle. But then, I was an offensive lineman.

Bill James found him, I believe. At least he was a big supporter of Boston getting him.
Posted Friday April 17, 2009, About: Recruit: Georgia waited too long
Oh, when I say below average at UGA I just mean that the average incoming freshman score on the SAT here is over 1200.
Posted Friday April 17, 2009, About: Recruit: Georgia waited too long
Hey, I'm faculty at UGA and if you can go to Stanford for free you're crazy not to. UGA is a good school, but Stanford is a lot more prestigious. And you can certainly get to the NFL from Stanford.

25 on the ACT is maybe good for a football player? It's roughly equivalent to an 1100 range score on the SAT. That'll probably put him in the bottom 25 percentile of the Stanford freshman class. It's even below average at UGA. But it's not bad.

His head got so big because he read a lot and he grew more brains.
Posted Saturday November 08, 2008, About: Recruit likes Okla. St. over UGA
Who can blame him for wanting to get out of his home town, I'd sure want to. I live in Athens, and it's a great town, but I'd want to get away.

Mind you, I'd try for UCLA or something, not Dirtbowl, Oklahoma.
