You've obviously got a thing for scapegoating Pop and Bonner. I don't think anything I say will change that. But if everyone else is saying Pop is HOF, you might want to consider the possibility that you are wrong.
Spurs lost the lead because they went cold. Parker missed 4 shots, Splitter missed, and a few turnovers to boot. On the other end, it was Bayless and Conley doing the bulk of the scoring. Zbo had a bucket and 1 (the foul shot I think he missed), not much else.
Both teams exhausted. Memphis came back because they are very good.
lol! You've really got it out for Pop. Who do you want to replace him with?
If you watched game 1, Pop had the game plan of fronting Zbo and getting open looks on the perimeter for shooters. Worked great as Zbo had 2 points and Spurs shot 14-29 from 3pt range, Bonner leading the way going 4-6. Game 2, more of the same , although Memphis adjusted. More points in the paint for ths Spurs, but more boards and better defense from the Grizz. The Grizz came back and nearly won because they are a very good team, not because Pop is a bad coach.
And you should watch Bonner more closely. The guy is doing very well.
Yeah, good points about Vinny. I can't understand the firing, except that it sounds like CP wanted him out, so he's out.
As far a the next coach, not sure they will get anyone that can help them. SVG, Phil J. are out. Many of theavailable coaches are young and inexpeienced, or don't have a successful track record. We'll see.
Yeah, could be. Either way, it will be interesting to see who is the new coach. Vinny seems to be one of those coaches that isn't appreciated until he is gone.
yeah, agree. Howard did not have a great year offensively and needs to improve. Not sure what he would tell the coach other than get him the ball more in the low post. With Kobe and Nash's experience, and the fact they are guards that you run the offense through, their input is more valuable/necessary.
If the Warriors ac Biedrins, then they will have the $$ to pay Jack and stay below the lux tax. But I would think they also want to bring back Landry, and not sure if they can do both. I expect both Jack and Landry want to be paid more than they are getting now.
Howard feels slighted because he felt D'Antoni was listening to Kobe and Nash more? Well, Kobe and Nash have been playing a lot longer, so if I was the coach, I would certainly give them more consideration. I don't think that is reason enough to let D'Antoni go.
Lol! Yeah I have watched just abouit every game (not sure if that is good or bad). He's not getting attacked by 5'9" guys and certainly not every loss is his fault.
Bonner was always supposed to be a backup. He got pressed into the starter role because of a series of problems acquiring bigs (Mahinmi being the biggest as he was a huge foul machine). As a backup he does fine. As a starter, not so much.
But the guy avgs abou $3mil/year on a team that has a $70mil payroll. Certainly there are other guys that share the blame in a loss. And if you could find a better big for $3mil, I think RC and Pop would have done that (and Baynes looks like a guy that will get more time next season).
The season averages may not support this, but I think Novak can get hot in stretches and hit from more places behind the arc than MB. But Novak is not much of a defender, and MB has the edge there.
It would be nice if you could spend $80mil or more to get high $$ backup bigs who would be content coming off the bench. But that isn't going to happen, at least not for small market SA.
Bonner is a 2nd unit guy, but there will be times when TD or TS need rest. It's another reason for Bonner to play and you just have to see how long he can hold out (or at least cancel out the opponent's offense with scoring of his own. The guy has done very well this post-season.
Bonner's a good player to have, and particularly so against any team not setup to handle a stretch 4. He's important against the Grizz and hope he continues to do well.
And he's been a good backup for quite some time. People love to scapegoat the guy, but his post-season play in the past for the $$ he makes and the limited minutes he gets is ok.
I agree it will be a few years w/o Dwight. But can they win a title with him? I think the Lakers need to have more than just a re-sign of Howard to get there.
He's definitely a 2nd team player. And even at that, there will be times where he will have to match up with the other team's starters (like Zbo and M Gasol in this case). He's been doing a decent job. As long as he has success scoring and stretching the opponent's D, he'll keep getting some playing time.

So, you didn't answer the question. Who are you replacing Pop with?
Also, here is a link on Game 1. Pretty good stuff. Watch Bonner.

Also, Vinny Del Nego just got fired. smh.
