Jon Gruden was fired TWICE and his brother Jay is way too green. Stay away from ALL Grudens. Chargers have been looking at MUCH better people than this. Good God. I hope this is a rumor.
That is why San Diego is looking at a seperate GM. Holmgren will make a great HC (only). Marty came back after the Chiefs and did a decent job in San Diego.
Is Wade Phillips a horrible HC? Yes. Does that mean he can't DC anymore? No. Been proven. Is Norv a horrible HC? Yes. Does that mean he can't OC anymore? No. Been proven. Holmgren can HC but can't GM/VP. San Diego has its own personnel department through the GM office.
He has not coached because he had a contract to be HC/GM in Seattle and VP in Cleveland. The peter principle applies to Holmgren. Just because he is a bad VP doesn't make him a bad coach. Wade Phillips is a horrible HC, but a great DC. You going to throw him out because he can't HC?
Same with Norv. Horrible HC. Great OC. People need to be put in the right positions to succeed. Look at Kassim Osgood. Great special teamer. So-so reciever (in NFL). If he was smart he would realize his limits and stick to what he is good at. Holmgren has realized his limits. Sounds like a smart guy to me.
Wade Phillips has proven to be a Horrible HC (twice) and he always goes back to being a top DC.
Same will be said of Holmgren. VP/GM is not his thing. The guy is a great coach. He did pretty well in Seattle considering the roster...and considering the GM duties he was trying to balance on top of that. Holmgren will be a great HC for San Diego. This situation in Cleveland is completely unrelated to being HC.
Being VP/GM is FAR DIFFERENT than just being HC. Holmgren ONLY wants to coach again. In Seattle he was GM/HC. Over my lifetime I have seen excellent employees promoted to management who have failed miserably. What happens when they return to their former positions? They feel relief...energized...and once again excel.
By the way, in Seattle he did not have much in the way of personnel. I think he did a great job there with what he had. Holmgren has realized his limitations. Few humans will do that. The guy seems pretty smart to me. I think he will have something to prove.
He's 29 years old. If he doesn't go now his salary will start dropping significantly. I don't see how he can go anywhere with the contract he just signed.
They have rebuilt a pretty good defensive line. The main problem is the offensive line...and of course Norv. If they go places it will be in spite of him.
As a San Diego fan, I LOVE Pete Carroll!!! Giving us all those draft choices for Whitehurst was GREAT! Letting Melvin Ingram fall to us was EVEN BETTER! Keep up the good work Pete!!!
The Jets want to make money being a reality show. Football in ancillary. I can see the wheels turning in the front office. "Hmm...we brought Tebow in...now we need an Anti-christ to pair with him...maybe Tank Johnson...and maybe add another headcase...T.O. perhaps...and then..."
Stupid Pro sports players: It took me FIVE MINUTES to do the numbers on a calculator. You can't do that? 5 houses at 3M assesment each = 300K per year taxes 5 BIG houses utilities = 700 per month X 5 X 12 = 42K per year 5 BIG houses landscape = 200 per month X 5 X 12 = 12K per year 5 BIG houses maintenance = 100 per month X 5 X 12 = 6K per year
You spent 5 X 3 = 15M on the houses. Over a 10 year period, the taxes, utilities and upkeep = 360k per year X 10 = 3.6M.
That is a total of 18.6M on houses ALONE.
Restaurants : $200 meals 3 X week = 31.2K per year. Over 10 years that is 312K Nighclubs: $400 per night once per week = 20.8 K per year, 208K over 10 years Travel: $400 hotel rooms X 90 days per year = 36K per year, 360K over 10 years Cars:
This has been misrepensented in the press. On average, NFL players actually live LONGER then average people. The ones that don't are overweight and stop taking care of themselves when their activity and metabolism slows.
Re suicide, many people do that for fianancial reasons...and it is coming out Jr. was starting to get real trouble. People who need to restart careers also get depressed. This is well documented.
That is important for people who are looking out for it. A normal bike has around 30-40 spokes. Sometimes crooks ARE caught when they steal something that can be easily identified. The journalist is just quoting the police.

Decisions are based on how much money a certain rematch will make or what bets have been placed.
