The Rangers revenue stream isn't as wide as the Angels yet. The TV deal hasn't kicked in and I guess the Rangers don't want to mortgage their future on high risk-high dollar contracts. Darvish--at a minimum--would likely be a $75 mil investment including bid and contract. Fielder would be a great signing--for 3 years, not 7-10 as he and Boras want. He has Carlos Lee written all over him...can hit...will eat his way to DH halfway through his deal. I kind of wonder if the Rangers even have the money to pay Josh to stay past next season. If the Rangers wait til next winter to negotiate with him, expect Josh to become a Yankee or Angel. The Rangers farm depth can replace Hamilton's position, but not his batting power when he is healthy.

Joe Lemire is such a sucktard. He just loved that Lee didn't land in Texas. He got wood when the Rangers lost the World Series because then he didn't have to list them as number one in his power rankings...which he wouldn't have anyway even if they had won the World Series.

I agree with Tomlin, but I also think he is just posturing as head coach. The Rooneys aren't going to let him sit Big Ben for any extended length of time if: A)The Steelers aren't .500 or better by the time Ben is eligible to play and B)They remember exactly how much they would be paying Ben to ride the pine as 3rd string QB. A $100 mil contract tends to remind one that your head coach can stand on his ethics and show off his power, but in the end his authority means diddly squat when the owners are ones paying the bills.
