Posted Sunday June 15, 2008, About: Is 2005 draft NFL's worst?
This was a bad draft, but there were some very good player that went after the top 10. DeMarcus Ware, Shawne Merriman, Jamaal Brown, Derrick Johnson, Heath Miller, Marlin Jackson, Luis Castillo, Roddy White, Braylon Edwards(although he was selected at 3), Jason Campbell, Mike Patterson, Logan Mankins, and Marcus Spears are all of the very good players that have come from the 2005 draft. There have been others that haven't been terrible picks, but they've been okay.

I'm down on Cassell too. He hasn't played since high school.
Posted Friday April 25, 2008, About: NFL execs: Dolphins shopping Taylor
I think they could use Jason Taylor as bait to move up into the first round to get Brian Brohm or Chad Henne. I think Parcells sees that there isn't much of a difference between Matt Ryan, and Brian Brohm or Chad Henne.
Posted Thursday April 24, 2008, About: Jets prepared to draft Ryan
That's crap, they're not going to take Matt Ryan. That's a complete smokescreen. Why in the world would the Jets take Matt Ryan? They drafted Kellen Clemens a couple of years ago and he played decently last year on a team with little talent. I like Clemens and I think the Jets do too. The Jets are throwing stuff out there to try and trade out of the spot.
Posted Friday April 18, 2008, About: Who's who on Raiders draft list?
If it were up to me, I'd take Sedrick Ellis. I think Ellis is the second best player in the draft(behind Chris Long). However, I think Al Davis takes Darren McFadden. It's the typical, flashy, Al Davis like pick. I think Sedrick Ellis is the right choice because it fills a major need, Ellis is a better player than McFadden, and because you have to build from the trenches out. If you put Ellis under Rob Ryan's control, that would scare the hell out of offensive linemen. On the other hand, McFadden has major fumbling issues, off the field issues, and just isn't as good a player as Sedrick Ellis. By the way, I think Chris Long is long gone by the time the Raiders select so I think he won't be an option.
Posted Sunday April 13, 2008, About: Bengals thinking WR in draft
You don't draft a slot wide receiver in the first round, especially when you can get an impact defensive player for your horrible defense. If you take Malcolm Kelly instead of Keith Rivers or Sedrick Ellis when you need a good linebacker or defensive tackle, that means you should put down the crack pipe and get some common sense. Now, I'm not saying that the Bengals will make that pick, but if they do, it would be a horrible, horrible pick.

Don't rule him out coming back as a scout.
Posted Sunday March 30, 2008, About: Four teams courting Spikes
The Patriots would be a great fit. Belichick loves these older, more experienced linebackers that have the football intelligence that can only be built up by many years in the NFL. It's not just a recent trend either, ever since Belichick has been there, the Patriots haven't drafted a linebacker above the 5th round.
Posted Thursday March 27, 2008, About: Dolphins want to workout Brohm
I actually think Brohm is a better player than Matt Ryan and if I were the Dolphins, I'd pick Brohm over Ryan in a second. Don't rule out Brohm at #1. Bill Parcells is known for making weird first round picks. It's not like those picks were bad either. Bill Parcells has a pretty good track record when drafting and developing players. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Dolphins took Brohm at #1. I know a lot of these "experts" are saying that Brohm shouldn't go in the first round, but Parcells knows 10 fold more than what these "experts" know combined and Parcells has made very good picks for players these "experts" thought were overdrafted. Parcells seemed like the only guy that was right on Reggie Bush.
Posted Sunday March 16, 2008, About: Dolphins or South Beach Cowboys?
The Dolphins are making progress. They're going out and bringing in some talent instead of just sitting back and doing nothing. The may be overpaying some of these guys, but nobody is going to take a pay cut to go to the Dolphins. The Dolphins are doing what they have to do.
Posted Sunday March 16, 2008, About: Paolantonio rips Favre's legend
I don't mean to say that Brett Farve sucks, all I'm saying is that he's overrated. Is he a great player? Yes. Is he anywhere as good as Joe Montana, John Elway, Peyton Manning, or Tom Brady? No.
Posted Sunday March 16, 2008, About: Paolantonio rips Favre's legend
I agree with Paolantonio. The reason is because everytime his team needs him to step up, he throws that interception returned for a touchdown and I thought that his final season as a quarterback for the Green Bay Packers represented his career for the Green Bay Packers.
Posted Monday March 10, 2008, About: Sources: Taylor wants out of Miami
He could go to a team like the Cowboys or Patriots if he gets out of Miami. Maybe the Eagles would make a run for him.
Posted Sunday March 09, 2008, About: Sheppard unhappy with Eagles
Sheppard to Pats? Sheppard is one of the best cornerbacks in the league and his performance at the end of last year when he shut down Randy Moss and Terrell Owens showed it. The Patriots have always lacked that cornerback that can get in your face and play press coverage ever since Ty Law left. If I were the Eagles, I'd try to keep both Sheppard and Samuel. Then, you'd have the best trio of cornerbacks in the NFL along with Sheldon Brown.
Posted Saturday March 08, 2008, About: Ricky: Parcells believes in me
Parcells is all about guys that are all football all the time. Ricky Williams would rather smoke weed than play football. I don't understand why a guy like Parcells would take a guy like Ricky Williams.
Posted Saturday March 01, 2008, About: Sheppard not long for Eagles
Lito Sheppard going to the Patriots could be very likely. However, if I were the Eagles, I would keep both Sheppard and Samuel. That would probably give the Eagles the best trio of cornberbacks in the league.
Posted Friday February 22, 2008, About: Giants want Falcons corner
Hall is one of the best young cornerbacks in the league right now. I know a lot of people think he's overrated, but I see him play a lot because I live in NFC South area and I think he's pretty good.
Posted Monday February 18, 2008, About: Belichick talks about Spygate
I'm all confused. I don't know who to believe, I don't know what's going on, and I just wish this whole thing would go away.
Posted Sunday February 10, 2008, About: Who will Patriots re-sign?
50yearfan, the Patriots, as of now, do have about 8 million in projected cap space. However, that is with Roosevelt Colvin getting a 7 million dollar bonus, which will not hold up. That 8 million dollar projected cap space also includes the Patriots paying Kelly Washington and Donte Stallworth their 4 million and 8 million dollar bonuses, which won't hold up either. By the time the Patriots let go of Colvin, Washington, and Stallworth, they'll have about 27 million dollars in cap space. That's plenty of money to franchise Randy Moss, sign Asante Samuel to a long-term deal, and they should have enough money to pick up some guys like Greg Ellis or Kawika Mitchell if the Patriots choose to go down that road and they should still have money left over for draft picks as well.
Posted Saturday February 09, 2008, About: Who will Patriots re-sign?
Randy Moss--franchised
Asante Samuel--signed to a long-term deal
Donte Stallworth--gone
Kelly Washington--gone
Tedy Bruschi--stays
Junior Seau--retires
Posted Tuesday February 05, 2008, About: Will Pats be broken up in offseason?
I think the Patriots will franchise Randy Moss and I also think they'll sign Asante Samuel to a long-term deal. Who's going to take Samuel's place if he leaves? Ellis Hobbs gets beat like a drum and Randall Gay is a nickel corner at best. Belichick has to sign Samuel to a long-term deal unless he wants to deal with a huge void in that defense. Even if Samuel does return, the cornerback position is a problem. With this Super Bowl loss, I think Junior Seau and Tedy Bruschi return. However, I don't know how effective Junior Seau will be because he turns 40 next year. Bruschi has already lost a step and he's become a two down player at this point.

The Patriots will have Randy Moss back, but they won't have Donte Stallworth(unless Stallworth is willing to renegotiate his deal). Roosevelt Colvin is pretty much gone, but he hasn't done anything this year when he wasn't injured. Kelly Washington is a special teamer and he won't be paid 4 million dollars.

The Patriots need to improve at cornerback and linebacker. They do have the #7 pick in the draft which they could use to draft Mike Jenkins, Aqib Talib, Vernon Gholston, Keith Rivers, or they could trade down in the first round. They might also get some guys that will be free agents next year that aren't big names, but guys that are average starters in the league at linebacker to add depth, which would allow them to target cornerback in the draft(because I'm tired of seeing Ellis Hobbs constantly get beat.
