That was a nice article it was apart of your "players to watch" and you posted it a couple of days before Juve played I believe it was Roma. Then Diego scored those 2 beautiful goals that was classic, nice call.

I think Diego is a type of player that Brazil's need in central midfield. I dont really like the pairing of Melo/G.Silva. I think Robihno still can play on the wings with Diego still in the lineup. But Knowing Dunga that won't likely happen.

If you really look at it the majority of these players are leaving like Beckham, Blanco, Donovan, and Rolfe so it would make for an interesting match up. Sorry Otergod but I really hate Chicago even though they have a legend like McBride. I can't stand Blanco and would love to see a match-up like a L.A. vs Chicago final.

USA plays Spain tommorow its going to be good. To bad Gyau, Renken, and Lleget are not included I was looking forward to see these players since 2007.

Anyone going to watch the U-17 WC? Otergod?
Posted Sunday October 25, 2009, About: Altidore fined for Twitter outburst
The question is who is going to step up and take Charlie Davies spot. The Casey/Altidore pairing is nauseating with Casey 5 minutes of fame soon to be over. They need that 2nd striker to give Alitdore space and the only players I can see taking that role is Donovan, Dempsey, and Findley.

I do hope Bradley slips Dempsey in that role and keeps Donovan in midfield. Unless I'm overlooking a game the last time I've seen the Altidore/Dempsey pairing it was against Mexico in 2008. They didnt look to bad.

Were also supposed to play another Euro team on Nov 14. before the Denmark match(Nov. 18). I have a feeling that it will be against Serbia, call it a gut feeling. It will definetly be aainst a Euro team that had qualified for 2010, so that leaves out countries that will be in quaifiers in Nov. Possible matches:

*Serbia(Subotic is goin down)
*Germany
*Definetely not the Netherlands because we play them next year.
*England
*Spain
*Italy
*Switzerland/Greece
*Slovakia/Slovenia

I am actually really siked to see the U.S. play Denmark in November. I can't wait to see some of the matchups like Bendtner/Gooch, C.Poulsen/Bradley, and Altidore/Agger. The Danes finished atop of their group wit no loses and also beat Portugal & Sweden away. Denmark is an aggressive team and I think we can explit their weaknesses with our srength and speed.

I'm not one of those fans who criticize players who stay in the MLS. But Jeff Cunningham along with the other leading scorers in the MLS like Ante Razov, Jason Kreis, and Roy Lassiter never made an impact on the national team for a reason.

I give Cunningham plenty of credit for his goal scoring abilities but I think it would be a lost cause to give him a spot on the national team. I think players like Cooper, Findley, and C.Pontius should have a look before Cunningham.

I know the majority of fans on this thread are soccer fanatics and eat, sleep, and breathe soccer. Myself I always think about the little stuff but the other day my girlfirend asked why I love the sport. And plenty of attributes came to mind; personally I loved the fact that we as a country have not yet caught the soccer bug as a whole. Meaning its one sport that we have not dominated and makes it more of a competition of who is the best around the world.

We stand in the soccer world as newbies yet with plenty of potential. You guys saw what we did in the Confederations Cup against Spain and Brazil. Even though well fell short at the end it was still amazing to see our national team to do so well without a large supporting cast. Meaning not having the largest fan base possible. Also not gaining great invesmet in the sport leading to not having the best athletes possible in America. Yet we still accomplished something great.

I came up with plenty of thoughts of why soccer is so great and why people around the world are passionate of the sport. Basically to me its because it is equal, unbiased, and non-prejudice. Meaning you dont have to be big or tall, you dont have to have the most fancy equipment. Whatever size you are all you need is passion, and the right mentality to gain the skills.

So quick question why do you guys think soccer is followed passionately around the world? And why is it the Greatest sport? I think it is a question that really does not get brought up more often. Unless for American fans who are defending it against some idiot who is trying to bash it.

Like I said your taking the comparison too deep. Its not that he is up there with the likes of Ribery or Robihno but his importance to the attack of the U.S. team. Similar to what these players are to France and Brazil respectively.

Its seems like you are a little bitter on Donovan's career path. Granted he had a bad time in Europe when he was young. But the loan-spell with Bayern is a whole different situation. Donovan did his part of impressing but his situation will always make him a liability when it comes to playing Europe. The price tag MLS put on him and his previous flops was the only thing keeping him from joining Bayern.

Tell me one thing Donovan did wrong while at Bayern? He scored every opportunity in friendlies and was a supersub vs. Hamburg in one of the 1st games of the season. I sense more bitterness from Uli Hoeness than noticing talent and taking a chance. As he should because he runs a club but I don't understand the bitterness from you?

To be honest I don't think it will be a club from Serie A.

Exactly, they should get 4 spots. I dont understand how Asia gets 4.5 spots. Thats the same amount of spots as CONMEBOL. Thats ridiculous when CONCACAF has a team that gets out of group play every tournament. The only time Asian nations gotten out of the group was in 1994 and 2002.

Personally I want USA to whoop Costa Rica's ass and for a Honduras win. Despite losing at home vs. the U.S. they didnt start the hacking or hard fouls that we are used to from Central American nations(Mexico, Guatemala, etc). This team has alot of potential and I hope they qualify.

*deep supporting cast.
Posted Friday October 09, 2009, About: Galaxy willing to loan Beckham, Donovan
I think your taking the contrast to deep, despite the level of the players LD is being compared to his importance to the team is the similarity. Whether you "cringe" or not Landon Donovan is a key importance in midfield in contrast to players like Robihno, Ribery, etc.

The obvious thing is Donovan does not have a deep supporting role as the other teams. Landon is turning into an all-around player and defending is something he is adding to his game. I think Clint Dempsey is an obvious liability and should never play as a side midfielder again. His role is upfront with evidence of all his goals this year being in the 20 yard box. He has a nose for goal and everyone can see that besides Bob Bradley.
