I think Diego is a type of player that Brazil's need in central midfield. I dont really like the pairing of Melo/G.Silva. I think Robihno still can play on the wings with Diego still in the lineup. But Knowing Dunga that won't likely happen.
I do hope Bradley slips Dempsey in that role and keeps Donovan in midfield. Unless I'm overlooking a game the last time I've seen the Altidore/Dempsey pairing it was against Mexico in 2008. They didnt look to bad.

I give Cunningham plenty of credit for his goal scoring abilities but I think it would be a lost cause to give him a spot on the national team. I think players like Cooper, Findley, and C.Pontius should have a look before Cunningham.
Well said.
We stand in the soccer world as newbies yet with plenty of potential. You guys saw what we did in the Confederations Cup against Spain and Brazil. Even though well fell short at the end it was still amazing to see our national team to do so well without a large supporting cast. Meaning not having the largest fan base possible. Also not gaining great invesmet in the sport leading to not having the best athletes possible in America. Yet we still accomplished something great.
I came up with plenty of thoughts of why soccer is so great and why people around the world are passionate of the sport. Basically to me its because it is equal, unbiased, and non-prejudice. Meaning you dont have to be big or tall, you dont have to have the most fancy equipment. Whatever size you are all you need is passion, and the right mentality to gain the skills.
So quick question why do you guys think soccer is followed passionately around the world? And why is it the Greatest sport? I think it is a question that really does not get brought up more often. Unless for American fans who are defending it against some idiot who is trying to bash it.
Its seems like you are a little bitter on Donovan's career path. Granted he had a bad time in Europe when he was young. But the loan-spell with Bayern is a whole different situation. Donovan did his part of impressing but his situation will always make him a liability when it comes to playing Europe. The price tag MLS put on him and his previous flops was the only thing keeping him from joining Bayern.
Tell me one thing Donovan did wrong while at Bayern? He scored every opportunity in friendlies and was a supersub vs. Hamburg in one of the 1st games of the season. I sense more bitterness from Uli Hoeness than noticing talent and taking a chance. As he should because he runs a club but I don't understand the bitterness from you?

The obvious thing is Donovan does not have a deep supporting role as the other teams. Landon is turning into an all-around player and defending is something he is adding to his game. I think Clint Dempsey is an obvious liability and should never play as a side midfielder again. His role is upfront with evidence of all his goals this year being in the 20 yard box. He has a nose for goal and everyone can see that besides Bob Bradley.
