To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day,
To the last syllable of recorded time;
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. It is a tale

Schools, at least in Indiana anyways, are funded through local taxes (property taxes) and state assistance. In a system where the land is worth much more, they have more money they can raise through local taxes. To say they're better because of that isn't entirely true. The quality of the teaching might not be as good as you might find in an inner city school; it's just that doctors' and lawyers' kids do not pose as many problems in the classroom as you might find in the inner city schools.

A few years ago, a buddy of mine left the district I worked in and got a job at an affluent school district. His yearly pay, just his base, increased by 8,000 per year. From public school to public school, there can be a pretty big discrepancy in terms of pay and benefits.

No, Sir. I am a public school teacher, high school aged students in fact. So, do I understand that every teacher in the province makes the same amount of money? Is there an increment to their pay scale?

Spring break for us doesn't begin until April 2 (Friday) then we have the week after that off.

Yup. Marking some papers right now. Promised I'd have them done for tomorrow. We've also had budget meetings last week and this week and will go back to the table next week. Kind of depressing, but such is life in the bad economy.
