The SS seems to be Theo's main stumbling block. Even after he shipped the offensive star (and selfish prima donna) Garciaparra away in 2004 for a glove and won the WS it still eluded him. The Sox immediately dumped Cabrera and signed the disaster Renteria. After that horror $how, we get a good SS in AGon and Theo has a wet dream for Lugo, who had as many errors as our entire infield. While we won a WS with Lugo, he essentially played himself out of town. We get AGon again (maybe the best defensive SS ever in a Sox uniform) but Theo's not satisfied. I suppose we'll get Scutaro and his bat and hope his 34 year old body can still play the position.

Red Sox fan here...just want to mention, do not rule out Seattle. Bay is from Vancouver and Seattle does have $. If NY doesn't want him that badly and Boston adheres to a value system like with Texiera then they could be a player

I'm pretty sure that the Yankees paid to dig up the jersey. Why on earth would a judge make some guy pay? I don't believe they could. It's like the Bixby Bridge guy in California who fell in the concrete. His family couldn't make California tear down a bridge to get his body, no court is going to make some guy pay 10's of thousands of $ to dig up something as harmless as a shirt.

You are right about Damon & Nomar, they both got huge in 1 off season. Everyone else on your list is either "convicted" or Papi. I tend to think Ortiz did not, he has been declining for the last 3 years pretty steady, and he never looked jacked. The odd thing about Clemens denials that nobody talks about is that his "2nd career" began exactly when the Sox signed Canseco, and then they both went to Toronto together to boot.
