If the Dodgers trade for him now, does that make it easier for the Phillies to re-sign Hamels?

He may be the best in training camp bc hes trying to prove some worth again, once the season starts and Davis is getting alot more looks and Moss isnt getting the touches, his attitude will change and will no longer be the best WR on the team
Posted Tuesday July 10, 2012, About: The sticking point with Hamels
I would love to keep Hamels on the team, but I also know the farm system is junk and we need to replenish it so we can have players to fill the position voids we have. Id rather sign Hamels and trade either Hallady or Lee, but they wont have the same value since one is hurt and the other only has 1 win. Loyalty lies more with the team then one player, so Id rather the team do whats best for the long run here, but losing Hamels is big, and I think we need him.
Posted Monday July 09, 2012, About: Rivers: 'He should have stayed'
That tell me Allen is more interested in winning at this point, Im sure he really doesnt need teh more money option...
Posted Monday July 09, 2012, About: Rivers: 'He should have stayed'
I dont really think anyone is to blame, its not like Allen was a C from the start. Yeah he won a title there and the fans should love him for that. But the fact is Allen is 36, he knows hes coming to the end of he playing days. He also knows teams have now surpassed the Cs in the ability to win the title. Hes looking for that one more chance to get another ring before he hangs it up

totally agree
Posted Monday July 09, 2012, About: Rivers: 'He should have stayed'
There is no loyalty in sports anymore, Boston has even looked to trade him the past TWO years. Why would he go and sign back with a team that has been trying to trade him? And there may be a rivarly between "Boston" and "Miami", but theres not between Allen, James, Wade, and Bosh, so why cant he go there? Allen is old and wants another chance at a title, is it his fault the best option happens to be a Boston rival? So what your saying is when a player leave in free agency he should never go to a rival?? Good luck with that...
Posted Monday July 09, 2012, About: Rivers: 'He should have stayed'
How is this a scum bag move when he played out his contract earning the right to be a free agent?!? As a FREE agent, Allen is FREE to pick what team he wishes to play for!
Posted Monday July 09, 2012, About: Rivers: 'He should have stayed'
Allen is 36, I dont think the money matters as much at this point, I think hes made plenty over his career that he can now chase another title in the few years he has left. I believe that had the most do w going to Miami, since they are built to win more then the Cs. Also, its then Allens choice of teams, rather then sign back with Boston only to have them trade him this time and Allen end up on a team hed rather not play for.
Posted Friday July 06, 2012, About: Nats committed to shutting Strasburg down
You cant just completely shut him down. It sends the message you are willing to just throw the season away. All players are competitive and wanna win, even the young players. You cant tell me Harper would be happy to hear that all the hard work he and the team put in to get First Place and make the playoffs meant nothing. But i get the fact the Strasburg has had injuries and you want to protect him for the long term benefit, so management needs another solution then to simply shut him down. Put him in the bullpen the rest of the season so he doesnt log the innings, then come playoffs you can use those innnings that he saved
Posted Friday July 06, 2012, About: Nats committed to shutting Strasburg down
I completely disagree. If you shut him down in the middle of a playoff run, your telling everyone he is more important then the team and more important then winning. If they were terrible again this year, then it would be a diff story, but u cant just take away your best pitcher and tell the other players that winning the WS is important. And I look at it from the other angle, if I was a player, Id want to go to a team that wants to win above all else, not to a team that puts 1 players above everything

But the Niners fell only one win short of the SB, they have a chance NOW to win it all, Manning gives a much better chance of that happening over the next 2 years, if that is indeed all the time Manning has left
Posted Friday July 06, 2012, About: Peyton chase tweaked Smith
Smith is medicore at best, while Manning is a First Ballot HOF'er and hes tweaked that they looked into Manning?? Everyteam, except a handful, shoulda been looking into Manning. Esp a team like the 49ers who were right on the cusp of the Super Bowl. Manning at 80% healthy, if thats all he can come back as, is still better then 100% of Smith...

What message is going to be sent to the rest of the players that management is more interested in saving this guys arm then winning in the playoffs? Since, you know, the whole point is to make the playoffs and win the WS
