The more I think about this, the more I don't like this idea. Shaq is horrible at the pick and roll defense and is just slow in general. He is likely to ask for too much money that LA doesn't have, and if he did make the team, he'd be a disruption in the locker room, just like every other team he's played for.
LA is better off signing a veteran guy like Kurt Thomas for the vet minimum

Regarding Shaq, I have no idea why he wants to keep playing besides his ego. He already has won 4 rings and has earned more money than most of us can ever dream of in a lifetime. By playing 2 more seasons, that's 2 more years he'll take a beating on by opponents while letting his stat averages sink. It may not be fair, especially to a guy who may have been the most dominant big-man ever in his prime, but people compare all-time greats based in part on stats. He can go out now as a solid role player on the best regular season team in the league, or he can put himself in a position to go out in a minimal role.
