Considering you only finally beat us for the first time in 10 tries, this year, maybe you should shut your pie hole and hope Rodriguez sticks around for a while.
However, even with your vast insider knowledge, I'd still rather take the word of well, ME and the friends of mine who actually know our program's leadership and players, support the program and consort with many other supporters, over that of a buckeye on the outside looking at us through blinders.
Just because you and your cronies WANT something to be true, doesn't MAKE it true. You were classless in canning Cooper because he couldn't beat us and you want to believe that we did the same thing. Nope.
Stick to the simple arguments - like the fact that you've won 5 straight over us. That has a lot more punch than erroneous speculation does.
McGuffie almost didn't come to Michigan anyway, had a death in the family, and has a younger brother that he is basically raising. Throw in a recurring concussion... wow major shocker he needs to move back home.
Kates was a career loafer who wouldn't have seen the field even if Lloyd and his softies were coaching still
Babb was kicked off the team because he repeatedly broke team rules.
Horn had no place in the new offense so it's smart for him to transfer.
Butler is a career penalty machine, dog house resident and under achiever who was switched from TE to DE in his 4th season - if that doesn't put the writing on the dorm room wall I don't know what will.
Then we have Artis Chambers... a guy we certainly had high hopes for when we recruited him out of Indiana. A high school QB and safety, He quickly found out that he didn't really have a position - too slow for Safety (and at Michigan, that's really saying something) and too small and/or unwilling to play linebacker. So... disappointing that it didn't work out, but there has to be desire on the part of the player and I'm not sure we saw any of that.
Also, as has been pointed out above, this junk's been common knowledge for weeks, it's just official now. But... this is the Detroit Free Press we're talking about.
Please stop publishing. You never have your details straight. MSU was the only program to offer Appling a scholarship and the only way this kid was not going to play ball for MSU was if Izzo didn't offer him one. Also, please stop calling these types of commitments "ORAL" commitments. That's just ridiculous.
That said, Appling is a pretty nice looking prospect and another good get for Sparty. If he keeps developing over the next two HS seasons he could be a top 10 or 15 prospect.
Drew Sharp is a worthless hack, though, so Kitna probably knows he has at least a few more months to wake up realizing he's employed by the Fords.
S T F U!
Sincerely,
Michigan Fans Everywhere
Set reasonable goals. Try .500 football and some solid fund raising for that new stadium first, then try 8-4. Then start talking about reaching the next level.
But hey, this is the best offense the Penguins have showed thus far in the series?
"These schools need to take a page out of Michigan's playbook. General Studies, Independent study courses with grossly inflated grades, etc etc."
And... of course you have EXTENSIVE proof of this, right? Probably the same EXTENSIVE proof that the Ann Arbor News was able to dig up in their 7-month investigation that amounted to all of three athletes with a few too many independent study classes on their transcripts. Wow. Shocking.
It's not our fault your old man won't give it up. Keep hatin' on us. I love it.
This is exactly why a playoff will never happen. Nobody even knows where to start and the answer is always "no".
Anyone got any revenue statistics handy for what takes in more money? Bowl games or the NCAA tournaments? If I had to guess I would say they are about equal.
And I'm talking about total revenue - not just the gate.
A playoff could easily happen, if only people would take their heads out of the sand.
If a guy commits to your arch rival before even visiting, do you even care? I don't need any more Justin Boren losers, thank you.
Jesus thank god that's over.
How the hell does this act ever get to the point of being tradition? How does it even happen one time without scholarship athletes being demoted or getting kicked off the team?
RN supposedly addressed the team about this well before it happened. He should have just said, "Guys, if you walk off that field you walk off your spot on the depth chart - period."
As for recruiting a kid to get to another - I don' think there are any serious errors in judgment happening (recruiting a kid who simply cannot play at the school's level just for the sake of having a friend recruit someone else) but coaches seem to be willing to take a shot on a developmental project or a kid that will be able to provide only depth since they need those kind of guys anyway. And if it has an obvious connection to a higher-level prospect that's all the better.
This is an under-the-radar prospect who is still growing. Going to be tough to keep him quick and fast enough to stay at Safety. I'm guessing he will end up being a Will linebacker in college so he can run the field.
Also, though he is a pretty nice prospect, I think this was equal parts interest in Bell and interest in securing a commitment from his teammate - a speedy slot receiver who has Michigan on the brain as well.
