The sadest part about this awful organization is their payroll. They have to pay Etan Thomas 7 million next year to do absolutely nothing. As it stands, they will not even be able to afford to sign the number pick and stay under the cap. They'll be forced to trade the #1 pick. Ernie Grunfeld should have been fired already for making these awful moves.
Posted Thursday January 29, 2009, About: Gary Williams on way out at Maryland?
I never understand why people say this "cash in on a national championship" what the hell does that even mean??

What other teams couldn't "cash" in?? Florida is struggling since winning two, Syracuse and UConn really haven't done anything since winning one. Ilinois made it there, but hasn't been very good since. Look at how many teams remain a powerhouse for a long period. Duke, UNC, UCLA are the only real consistants in college basketball. Even those teams had some rough years recently.

Every single program recruits "busts" or has a group of players that weren't as good as previous ones, has up and down years. Maybe it is time for Gary to move on, I don't really know the answer that question. I do know that he got Maryland 2 final fours, and a national championship, and of course people won't be satisfied with that if you start missing out on the NCAA a few years later.

I just hate when people use the phrase "cash in on a national championship" Do you just walk into kid's houses and say "i won a national championship, so come to Maryland" Is that how Jim Boehiem recruits or Billy Donovan "hey son, I won 2 in a row with a group of 5 guys that is almost impossible to come by and because of that, you will go to Florida so I can cash in"

So, no you're not smarter than me

This is totally off topic and not meant for this thread, BUT........after seeing that PSU symbol I have to put my 2 cents worth in. Penn St. is the most overated team in the country and should be penalized for such a weak schedule. Granted, it is not their fault that the Big Ten has been extremely weak for the past few years, but give me a break. They play nobody out of conference, it's an absolute joke. Somehow they play Temple every year, it's ridiculous.

Even if they beat Ohio St. what does that prove?? Ohio St. has shown us for the last 3 years that they are extremely overated by playing a soft schedule just like Penn St. Ohio St. got destroyed at USC so they should not be mentioned in the BCS picture anymore. Every team Penn St. has beaten has 3 losses, that is not worthy enough for a #3 ranking. You should be penalized for an extremely weak schedule. In a non perfect system, you must go out and play at least 1 decent team out of conference. It's not fair for the good teams who aren't afraid to go on the road into a hostile environment out of conference. I at least give credit to Michigan who consistantly has a tough schedule.

I hate Ohio St. more than anything, but I hope they destroy Penn St. so we don't have another overrated Big Ten team in the BCS championship, and if we do, they will get absolutely destroyed by either the SEC or Big 12. Also, the Big Ten and Pac-10 should be forced to play a conference championship, I don't care if they have 11 teams or not. They should be black balled from the BCS until they do so, because if they lose yet again in the BCS championship, the NCAA should be forced to do something about it, because it is really ruining the sport.

You're talking about 1 game in which you were a 7 point favorite. Go back the last 5 years and you will see the Ravens hold a 6-5 edge in head to head. Ray Lewis is not a convicted felon, again check your facts before posting. The entire NFL is probably nothing but thugs, to single out the Ravens is ridiculous, Ray Lewis is one of the most respected players in the game, whether you personally like him or not. Obviously our offense has not been good for a while, but that can change.

I don't mind going back and forth with educated fans like yourself, but some of these idiots, Ravens fans included, have no clue what they're talking about and say the most obscure things. There's obviously a true rivalry here or else there wouldn't be so much going back and forth. I understand why people around the league hate the Ravens, but you can't deny that people don't want to face their D unless your name is Peyton Manning

Like I said, does anyone care about records after 6 games. Can you tell me who was 3-3 last year and who was 5-1? No, because it means nothing. You know the Steelers were lukcy to win the game, hence why you were booing them in the 3rd quarter. There's a lot that can play out before the season is over. Do I think the Ravens are the better team right now? No. But who knows come week 17. I wouldn't talk this much trash this early into the season.
Posted Thursday October 23, 2008, About: Ravens bounty talk angers Steelers
You are absolutely retarded. I would call taking them to OT on the road on MNF close and does anyone even give a crap who was 5-1 last year? That means nothing. You don't own any tiebreaker until they play here. Those are completely meaningless until the season is over. You are a Big Ben injury away from being a .500 team.

Give me one fact that backs up this statement genious. I want proof that he was indicted for murder. If you can show me this I will pay you straight cash. He was indicted for being an accomplance, two totally different things. He was with a friend at a club who got in a fight and stabbed somebody. Obviously, they went after Ray Lewis because he is a high profile person, and they could get more information out of him than some nobody. He cooperated completely with the law in all regards. If your friend was in a similiar situation would you have driven right to the polic station to turn him in?? You can criticize him for being friends with people like that, but I guarantee 75% of the league has friends just like that, its just the way it is. But uneducated **** like yourself see he was involved in a murder trial so you just make your own assumptions w/out reading anything, but then I wouldn't expect anymore coming from a dumb 40+year cowboys fan

Last time I checked, the entire league has U of Miami "chumps". First of all, Ed Reed is playing with an injury to his neck this year, so he's far from 100%. Ask anyone in the league who the best safey has been the past 7 years he's been in the league and I bet they don't say troy palamalu. The Gators have had a nice run the past few years, but they'll be back to reality once Tebow leaves after this year. I'll put a bet right now that they lose at FSU thanksgiving weekend.

I can't watch that link because I'm at work, although posting it 3 times is quite enough. Is that from the game this year, or the one from last year? If it's from this year, Ward was fined for that hit, so obviously it was cheap, obviously Ed Reed was not looking, so I don't consider it face to face.

Let me reiterrate this again. THE STEELER FANS WERE BOOING IN THE 3RD QUARTER ON MNF AGAINST THE RAVENS. If you think you're in a class above us, that would have never happened. The Ravens were picked to win 4 games this year with a rookie QB who is only starting because of injuries and a rookie head coach. Yes, you're running back and NT were hurt, but they are the two deepest positions in football. Everyone thought that it would be a blowout and it was far from it. I think the Steelers are the favorite right now to win the AFC Championship, but if Big Ben were to go down, you guys are in serious trouble. That guy single handidly wins games for you. There is no way you're winning anything with Leftwich at the helm. And anyone on here that thinks the Ravens defenders are soft and crybabies, ask anyone (in particular Big Ben) how soft they really are. People are really overeacting to these comments, we all are biased in our opinions, but look at the head to head record between these two teams in the last 5 years, the ravens are 6-5. These Steeler fans are way too cocky for a team that is an injury away from being not good.

Trying to turn it into some type of gang type thing?? You read way too much into things, obviously they talk a little more trash than most teams, but their defense backs it up more than any other defense out there. Their talk is all in fun, but people like you take it way too serious. Comparing them to a gang is pretty damn ignorant. Obviously these two teams have been the 2 best in the divison over the last decade, they both have a super bowl and they're usually the 2 teams fighting for the division. I have respect for the Steelers and Big Ben, but I do think Hines Ward is a cheap, dirty player. The Ravens probably run their mouth a little too much, but at least they have been able to back it up, it's not their fault we've had an inept offense for so long.

"maybe the raven's o-line should watch some tape of Ward so they can learn how..." That is the dumbest thing I've ever read. The o-line doesn't get to run around unblocked and get a running start at crushing someone who is not looking. If Bart Scott ran down and just crushed Hines Ward when he was running a route, there would be such an outcry it wouldn't even be funny. If Hines Ward is so tough, and you can hit people when they aren't looking, then it would be fair for Suggs to just run at him full steam and take him out 3 yards into his route, right?

Wow, not even close to smelling the fumes?????? We dominated you for 3 quarters in Pittsburgh on MNF. Yes, we made a couple mistakes that cost us 2 TD's, but let's be honest here. We were playing with a rookie QB and w/out 3 of our top defenders and still almost won the game. Your fans were booing in the 3rd quarter for god's sake. I wouldn't say we aren't close if you guys had to boo in the 2nd half. The Steelers were very very fortunate to win that game, everyone knows that. Do I think the Ravens will win the division? Probably not. But, the Steelers are not as far ahead as you think and I guarantee you when they come to Baltimore, we won't have to win in OT. Look at every Hines Ward hit on Reed, Scott, etc. I guarantee they were when they weren't looking and chasing down someone else. If you can find one where they met head on let me know, because it doesn't exist.

Loki, you have no clue what you're talking about. The Ravens defense has backed up their talk for a decade now. They are consistantly a top 5 defense despite having an atrocious offense and spending more time on the field than most defenses. Say what you want about them, but they produce, bottom line.

People are ignoring the fact that Hines Ward is a dirty player. His "big" hits only come when the other person is not looking. I would love to see Hines try and crush one of these linebackers and safeties straight up. He's not man enough to go face to face, he'd rather wait until someone is chasing down a running back and then blindside him with his helmet, not his shoulder. He is always cheap shotting people when the ref is not looking. He acts like such a little girl, and then he cries when they lose at home in AFC championship because he feels "so bad" for Jerome Bettis. I hope he goes over the middle for a catch and T-Sizzle or Ed Reed are just waiting to blindside him just like Hines has done for years.

Say what you want about the cocky attitude of the Ravens D, but they're not cheap. You can't find any example of them hurting someone on a cheap shot. Ray Lewis broke Mendanhall's shoulder on a tackle straight up. They met head on and he was just the bigger man. People take these comments and blow them so far out of proportion. He was asked a question and he answered it, get over it. Hines Ward, just like Rodney Harrison have been dirty players for a long time. They're both fortunate enough to play for good organizations so it hides the fact of how dirty they really are, and there teams win so people don't make a big deal about it. But I guarantee they have no respect among everyone else in the league.

Granted, it was not the writer who put him in this category, it was all-star Chris Paul. Obviously it's not fair to even to put those two in the same sentence, but I think Chris Paul has more insight than any of us. That is good to hear if you're a Wizards fan.
Posted Tuesday September 02, 2008, About: Why Ravens will start Flacco
What in the world does Trent Dilfer have to do with this particular situation?? In hindsight it was not the best move to go after Grbac (who made the pro bowl the season before), but the organization knew their defense could not match what they did in their super bowl run, and our offense needed to score more. We lost Priest Holmes to free agency, and Jamal Lewis tore his ACL in training camp ending his season. There was no way we would have won with Trent Dilfer as the qb w/no running game, hate to break it to you Scappy_AK.

As far as Flacco, how can anyone critisize this move?? He is the ONLY healthy qb on the roster that has been there for more than a week. Troy Smith lost 20 lbs when he was sick, so he's a few weeks away from playing and Boller might be out for the season. The coaching staff was forced into this move, it was just really bad luck. The person I'm a lot more concerned about at this point is Ed Reed. He has a nerve issue in his neck and shoulder and there are rumors that his career could be over

The curse of Chris Rix continues.......i have a question for noles fans.....how long does last year's suspension last this year.....is it 2 or 3 games? If it is only 2 games than it won't be a big deal, but if it is 3, than they're in trouble against Wake Forest at home

This is so ridiculous........you honestly think that Jefferson just barged into this place and Lyle Fox kindly asked Jefferson to leave.....

Fox: "umm, excuse me.....Mr. Jefferson, this is a private party, if you could please leave, we would greatly appreciate it?"

RJ: "why you little piece of ****, how dare you ask me to leave...do you know who I am, I'm Richard Jefferson"

Fox: "Oh my, I am truly sorry, but this is a private party, I don't want there to be any trouble"

RJ: "That's it!!.....I"m gonna kill you, you inconsiderate little prick"

Fox: "Help!!!...Why are you choking me???, somebody help me!!!"

Washington didn't even make a bowl game last year....what is your point??

They played Texas the first game after Vince Young in McCoy's first game ever......finally, they play USC this year....but the last couple years their schedule has been a joke, hence why they can't keep it close in the BCS Championship game. Also, the bottom of the Big Ten has just become embarassing.

ND does not play the same schools year in and year out, that is retarded....look at their schedule in the last 10 years and tell me if you agree with yoru statement.
Posted Tuesday April 29, 2008, About: Will Irish join football conference?
Everybody says that ND plays "cream puffs" but let's look at who THE OHIO STATE played last year........Youngstown St., Akron, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Kent St. Now let's take a look at who PENN ST. played last year, Florida International, Buffalo, Minnesota, and Temple.

It looks like their schedule will actually get easier if they join the Big Ten. I'll take Stanford and Navy over half the Big Ten teams anyway.....
