Start small Dana...get bigger than NASCAR or the NHL 1st...I highly, highly doubt UFC will ever be more popular than the NFL...and to say it's going to be the biggest sport in the world, and trump soccer....well, that's an even bigger, unrealistic dream.
And my $0.02 is that Beasley on the back line is not going to be seen again...was essentially ineffective.
Can he play defense though? The guys on the pitch apparently can't.
I can understand him asking for a bump in pay, but at 34, well, I don't think he'll get it. He's making about what he should for the production he has.
The 1st one, while I don't think it wasn't intentional, probably deserved to be call...again, not intentional but pretty obvious hand ball. Though I also understand why it wasn't called, the same logic used in the US - the referees don't want to be the ones responsible for determining the result of the game.
I feel kinda bad for Chelsea, but oh well. If I was the ref, I would've ejected Ballack for being all on me like he was in that 93rd minute. Also, wouldn't be suprised to see Drogba fined or suspended either...he really gave that ref a hard time after the game and spent a good minute or so gesturing to the camera...I can only wonder what he said to the camera too.
I mean, hell, baseball has been around for more than 100 years....football for 80....NHL for somewhere in the 80-100 range (too lazy to look). NHL has more history than the NFL but has never been close to the same level as the NFL...baseball has more history than the NFL but the NFL has surpassed them....to think that a leagues' years of existence will ever determine where a sport falls in America's love is a poor comparison b/c if it were true, the NFL would be the 3rd most popular sport.
Either way, I think soccer is still growing. MLS is in the black finally after being in the red for years upon years....thanks mainly to strong corporate ties to prop them up. While you won't see MLS games in primetime on Sportscenter, its still carried on ESPN & FSC. Champions' League games are aired live on ESPN and the World Cup is carried on both ABC & ESPN. Will it ever be as popular as football or baseball? Nope. Could it surpass NASCAR? Perhaps...and I think its already beating out the NHL (at least in the US).
Garber's comments were about the state of sports economics as a whole and this Yank exec got his knickers in a twist. Then jests that the Yanks draw more in a year than a league that's not even 10 years old draws in a season.
Well Mr. Levine...compare your attendance to Man U if you want to compare your big boy status to another big boy league across the pond where soccer is the most popular sport.
Hell, even 1-3 I'd say they're easily in the top 3 in the league
Either way, I do like that the Bears got a quality QB....sets up a nice, stronger GB v CHI rivalry. Both teams have young, promising QBs.
1st...I'm 28 so I'm not middle aged
2nd...not fat
3rd...not married
4th...not jealous of Cutler - Jay, get a haircut, you look like Larry of the Three Stooges
Article doesn't even say that Cutler was drinking, it simply says "night life". One can be out on the town and not drink and have a good time. I have no doubts that he drinks when he goes out, but I'd be skeptical if he's getting grossly intoxicated.
Most diabetics can drink...it's just the extent of drinking that puts their life at risk (or anyone for that matter). I'd stop presuming he's drinking...and even if he is, it's his life to screw up.
