Brett wants to keep playing so that he can add to his record of consecutive starts. That's why he plays through the injuries. He'll keep coming back year after year as long as he doesn't miss a game. As soon as he does that he'll retire for real. He's not really playing for the team anymore (and probably wasn't in the last year in Green Bay) which is what makes this so sad. He'll play with a broken rib, shoulder, arm, brain as long as he gets his start. Doesn't matter if it hurts the team because it's still all about the streak and trying to secure a record that won't be beaten. That's why he was so bitter with the Packers. He played with the Jets and should have been taken out but there he was every week. He's going to do the same in Minny and it's going to be stupid because nobody has been able to tell him to hang it up (except the Pack, who offered him a nice deal to bow out gracefully). Childress gave him 2 ultimatums on the camps this year and still signed him so who's going to say no to Brett now? I can't wait to watch Rogers against Favre this year. I wouldn't be suprised if that's the game Favre gets hurt in. Wait and see.

The Jays may not need Manny but they DO need some bats. If Thomas had played half decent at the beginning of the year we would be in playoff contention right now. Personally I don't think "good feelings" in the clubhouse are more important than a solid guy hitting 4th in the lineup. If that's Manny that would be fine with me. I doubt that Cito would have a problem talking with him. He seems to be the kind of coach that talks things through with his players as opposed to calling them out in the media. All in all, Manny would be a big improvement to this team and getting him might mean that Burnett would allow the Jays to extend/rework his contract. Either way, it's going to be a pretty interesting off season for the Jays for once.

Bettman is the absolute worst thing to happen to the NHL. He is singlehandedly responsible for its downturn. He was looking for anyone but Balsillie to buy this franchise so he allowed it to be sold to the highest bidder. Check that - second highest bidder. And for what? To keep the team in a market that won't care in a year or two? Add the lockout to this guy's resume and the current Salary Cap and it just shows you that this guy doesn't know what he's doing. At least Bush is only allowed to go 8 years!

I hope Moore wins big in this. Bertuzzi is an idiot one way or the other. He either can't think for himself or he can't take direction. It's the single most disgusting thing I've seen in hockey and I can't believe he is still in the league. Get rid of them both. I've got no respect for either of them.

If the Leafs want to get something right then they should bring Sundin back for his last year with a NTC just to get the stink off this whole situation. When this guy retires I would like to think that they can hang up his number and celebrate his career as the captain for the last 13 years. For all he's done for the Leafs it's the least they can do. Besides, Sundin won't sign without one and we'd at least have our best player back for a year. It would also give us an opportunity to see who is starting to shine through before we hand off the C to someone else.

I think if you asked this question a year or two ago people would have thought Darcy Tucker would have been the perfect fit but I can't see it now.

Maybe I am a little biased being a Toronto fan and all but anything they can do to get rid of Vince they should do. If he doesn't get traded now he'll just come back next year and dog it (more than he does now), whining to anyone who will listen about how he wants out of New Jersey until they finally get him out. At least that's what happened in Toronto. This guy is loaded with talent and no heart. He really only thinks about himself and although it looked like Toronto got fleeced in that trade with New Jersey it ended up being the best thing that could have happened up here.

There is no way Sundin is going to allow himself to be traded. He'd rather take off at the end of the year and go back to Sweden like he does every summer and be with his friends and family. Playing for up to two more months for free isn't his style so getting traded to a contender is just not going to happen.

I'd love to see Ricky in Green Bay. We had him up in Toronto with the Argos and after a little adjustment to the different style of game he played really well. But one of the things you may be missing is that he was a great person in the community and everyone on the Argos were saying what a positive influence he was to have around. So if you all just take a step down off you HIGH horse maybe you'd see that he isn't the biggest criminal in the world. I also find it funny that people are trashing him here and just one article over people are getting all outraged about one of the Bears having to pay child support to his baby's mother like she trapped him or something. I mean where are your priorities?
