Johnny Footballs come, and Johnny Footballs go. The name will fad as did Andre Ware's and so many other "flavor of the day" QB's.

It's the guys who have continued success in the NFL that we remember; not the Ryan Leaf's and Matt Leinart's; and sorry Scam and RGIII havew already made VY Passe.

We're a nation of forgetters, give us what's right in front of us.

Not just OKC, but Moore inparticular. That town is a Tornado magnet.

Still haven't heard from my nephew who lives up there, but I know it's really tough getting through.

Bazziiiinga!
Posted Wednesday May 15, 2013, About: Weis supports Bob Stoops' criticism of SEC
One of the main points Stoops made is totally lacking here, and is more of a criticism of the system than the SEC.

That is, what is the point of playing Florida States and ND's if nothing but bad comes out of it? And that with it's rep, a team like Bama can have 1 game vs LSU, and 1 game against TAMU, and the rest of their sched is patsies. Makes it much easier to get to the champ game, even if you lose 1 of the 2 tuff conference games you have, not counting Michigan and the CC game.

A valid point IMO. But what I hate is the lack of good inter-conference games, regardless to who is overblown or whatever. The other stuff is just arg fodder...

Nice to see ya TM. In those daze they were the Big 8 & SWC. Those were the daze...
Posted Tuesday May 14, 2013, About: Patterson names a Big 12 favorite (it's not TCU)
B12 is getting really hard to diaqnose lately: OU and UT seem to stumble more often than not, teams like Okie State, Baylor, and TCU have made some pretty convincing statements they can play with the big boiz on a given day, and NEVER count out that ol' Snyderman at KSU.

But of course as most SEC peeps would know, if TAMU were still there they would win it all, every year...year in and out.
Posted Wednesday May 08, 2013, About: Manziel merely a marginal pro prospect
One other thing: IMO Manziel has shown prima donna traits off the field, and that doesn't bode well for a player at a position that gets hit a lot.

Also, 'smallish' QB's that like to run have a tendency to get injured a lot, as in Mike Vick and RGIII, and Johnny F ISN'T RG III.
Posted Tuesday April 23, 2013, About: Niners looking to trade into top 15 of NFL Draft
Spot on. And I could see them trying to add a good #2/possession receiver to help CK out a bit. IMO it could be Robert Woods, someone Harbaugh is familiar with and, IMO, is one of the most underrated receivers out there. The only knock I have heard on him is he occaisionally drops one he shouldn't.

But he has decent size and speed, gets good seperation, is one of the best route runners in the draft, did it all at USC (return man, #1 WR, #2 WR, gets open deep/across the middle/in traffic/ sidelines/reverses). He was a Biletnikoff finalist last year before Lame Kiffin fell so in love with Marquise that he ignored his biggest threat from 2011, and according to Matt B that is one reason the team flopped.

OK, I'm a USC homer but Woods and SF are a perfect fit.

I grew up in Paramount Cali. The ONLY thing that seperated us was the LA river geographically, but culture wise they may as well been on the moon. In LA streets define what kind of community it is, not cities.

Even in Texas it's that way only not as much. On One side of Bryant Irvin you got a Country Club and Ridgelea Hills. Literally the other side of the street is Como and you don't drive through at night.

13 miles is a long distance in SoCal, but yes the SC campus and facilities aren't in a good area.

Yeah OT, defense was most of it, but LT and Holmes injury was a huge factor, specially in the UCLA game.

Also, I agree with MB: Lee wasn't the only player on offense. Look at 2011 Woods. He did it all and with an injured ankle. Grimble and Telfer might as well stayed home... IOWs spread it around, even Lee has a better season if you do.

Also, the more you score the more the other team gets 1 Dimensional, and then you got em. A good offense helps a weak D.

Can we get Norm Chow back as play caller? Never thought much of Kiffs OC abilities even under PC, and it still stinks. Back then it was Reggie right, Bush wwheel route, Reggie left. Throw in some Dewayne Jarrett and you get the idea.

Same deal now only Marquise Lee. Yeah, he was great, but look at Robert Woods Soph year when he was called on to do EVERYTHING, and he was injured. He was totally wasted LY, and so were 2 very good TE's and a FB.

Under Chow Everybody was used, Mike Williams, Steve Smith, Dewayne Jarrett, LinDale STARTED over Bush (I agree), Dom Byrd, Fred Davis... Norm left AFTER the 2004 season. That's when the slide, though gradual, started.

When Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville was asked who would win the 2004 BCS NC game he predicted USC. Not because of Reggie or Matt or LinDale or superior big uglies or Pete Carroll or anything like that; it was, he stated, because if "Norm Chow is given enough time to prepare he can beat anyone"

Posted Wednesday March 06, 2013, About: Reggie Bush to Lions?
Meh, the Lions have busted with more than one Trojan, and this from a Troy Fan. Mike Williams SHOULD have been a very good possession receiver if he would have had his head in the right place, as he showed one year with Seattle, Shawn Cody wasn't a bust but he coulda done better.

I always felt like LenDale would make the better pure Running Back, but his head was messed up to, tho he had 1 good year in Tennessee when he got some touches.

But the Lions are crappy at developmen of young uns, and Bush is no longer a young un (or the next Gale Sayers either...)
Tebow is a anomaly. The reason being is every shot he gets he wins. Hard to argue with that. A better example might be Leinart, but it is acknowledged that passing and knowledge wise ML's skill set is much greater than VY's.

All that aside, what husrts VY most, and helps Tebow most, is work ethic.
I won't say racism is dead, cuz it ain't. But I believe that until recently there were running QBs and passing QBs, and rare instances of guys that could do both. Success in college is in no way a determinant for what you are gonna be in the NFL: Matt Leinart, a white QB, isn't having much better success than VY and he has the advantage of not having to learn pro style offenses.

Yeah, in the past the Warren Moons and Randell Cunninghams were rareities, head coaches and owners were non existant. I believe today any coach is gonna keep the guy, at any position, that plays the best. If not I doubt he will stay a coach long.

Look at the leagues latest sensation, Colin Kaepernick. He's mixed blood, but it is my firm belief almost all of us are one way or another (I'm American Indian and White), racial traits of one or the other are just predominant. But Harbaugh didn't give a flip about any of that when he traded up to get CK, even though peeps were saying he was a long term project. Didn't care when he had to start him when Alex Smith had a concussion. Didn't care when he continued to start him even tho Alex had proven all year he could get the job done and was healthy.

Like Harbaugh said, it's about who gives you the best chance of winning.
Yeah, it's all Fishers fault that VY can't get a job now, that he condn't cut it with the Eagles. Fishers fault that VY had a prima donna rep as being the last to practice, 1st to leave, tried to committ suicide...

Maybe there was a reason Fisher didn't want Young. If he was racist he seemed to get along all right with his previous black QB, Steve Mcnair. No, VY and Jamarco Russkitt are what happen when owners like Bud Adams, Jerry Jones, and Al Davis try to run the team.
And while they're at it go out and get Matt Leinhart too...
Posted Friday October 26, 2012, About: Landry: 'I'm not going to stop hitting or head hunting'
Hitting 'legally' as hard as is possible is fine. To me that's not 'head hunting'

Head hunting, at least to me, is similar to a bounty where you single out one or two players and target them for hits, legal or illegal, that will result in their injury and removal from the game.

I don't know Mr. Landry's IQ, but it doesn't seem as tho it's quite as high as the Landry that wore the fedora... needs a little 'splainin done fer 'im.

Owen Marecic (the 'Iron Man') started and played every down for Stanford. By 'every down I mean they didn't take him out for goal line short yardage, 3rd and long, etc.

OM played Fullback an IL and scored a TD on each side of the ball on consecutive plays, not counting extra point and KO.

Isiah Wiley not makiung it scholastically really kuleed us this year. he was looking better and better every game last year; he was not Robey but teams couldn't pick on him as they seem to pick on Torrin Harris. They shouldn't be able to pick on Harris, but maybe he's having a harder time getting back to where he was when he got ijured than expected...

But, at least at the end of August, CB depth wasn'tthought to be a problem:
