I don't think UCONN has broken a sweat thus far in the tourney have they? While Kentucky seems to have a rabbit in their hat.

We shall see if they can make UCONN work. If it' close...

Though I'm a SW Engineer, I HATE machines/programs that think they are smarter than you. Microsoft word is one of the worst, correcting format and spelling. How much time have I wasted going back and re-doing formatting only to have the program redo it at the next opportunity.

Down with tech!

Yeah, my typing is really sucky, and I just got a new PC at work and have noticed it dropping a bunch of letters.

Not sure what setting to modify to correct it tho, and I am a hunt and peck one handed typist so I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the setup/speed. If I don't proof something you see the results. Spelling and grammer aren't turned on for T&N so...

And for any typing for work that I do in word everything is acronym heavy (WOW => Weight On Wheels, not "Did you see that!) so almost everything is flagged.

Congrats to the Col,and Go Gat...er... well, nevrmind. I don't have any dogs in this hunt (picked the cats to go to the finl but not to win, I have been eliminated from the one pool I was in) but for the sake of this fine establishment may the freshmen future NBA'ers dominate the floor.

But I have been picking against UCONN since their second game (against Villanova) so I won't jinx the cats by picking against the Sled Dogs again. So I pick the Dogs to win going away!

Just an interesting tidbit in a SI article entitled "Arian Foster, former college athletes sign ???Statement of Support??? in O???Bannon case"

"More than 50 former college players have signed a ???Statement of Support??? for the plaintiffs in the Ed O???Bannon v. the NCAA case...The list of players includes Arian Foster, Desmond Howard, Nolan Smith, 10 NFL Hall of Famers and Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew, among others."

The statement reads ???We, athletes who competed in NCAA sponsored collegiate sporting events, express our full support of and agreement with the lawsuit brought by Ed O???Bannon on behalf of current and former collegiate athletes against the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Further, we wish to call attention to the compelling need for dramatic change in the relationship between college athletes and the NCAA and respect for athlete rights.???

Does this lend the effort legitimacy? Do nothing at all? They signed it for the O'Bannon camp so I guess it has some meaning to them to have this support, but I don't have a clue whether it's just a PR ploy or it does something for the case itself...

Congrats are in order for both you and Mr. Sparticus. Kids and Grankids make life worth living while at the same time add to the gray hairs and ulcers.

May both the Sprty's daughter and your Grandson prosper in mind, spirit, and body.

I really don't know how this works, certainly not how Title IX fits in, but a quote from an article just after the ruling:
"The ruling applies only to scholarship football players at Northwestern, but the precedent could extend to other Division I scholarship football players at similar private universities. (Collective bargaining at public universities is governed by state law, not the N.L.R.B.)"

Since the public Schools aren't governed by the NLRB, wouldn't the vast majority of schools be unaffected? Also, I'm not sure about this, put it seems I remember something about the ruling being base in part on the vast amounts of money that football brings in. If that is correct, fair or not, it seems that part of the argument in other sports, whether male or female, would not be there (IOW when it comes to other sports unionizing may not win the day).

But... I guess any benefeits given to a football player would have to be applied to womens sports, union or not?

But at the least public schools are immune aren't they?

"overrambunctional" that's an amazable new word, I really like it! I'll use it on the Grandson at the 1st opportunity (which should be about 2 minutes after I get home).

Just don't get the root canal right after (and by the same guy) the colonoscopy. Not only will you feel doubly violated, you'll be left with a funky taste in your mouth even BEFORE the anesthesia wears off.

Demand the RootCanal go 1st!!

G'Day to you too col, and good luck vs Wiscy and then... well, we'll see what comes won't we?

Yeah, I've got the Gators, I just need a score. Since there is a 3 game history, I'll go with the average (72-61 UF), tho I think it's gonna be closer, assuming both get there.

I've now changed my bracket to have an all SEC final (we get to change at the end of each stage and my other finals team, Louisville, is gone).

I have your Gators beating KY. The way I've been picking I am apologizing in advance for bringing your Water Lizards bad luck.

Any of you SEC guys who are familiar with Fla and KY have a prediction on the final score? It's the tiebreaker... I am still mathematically alive (46 pts. and the leader has 54 with 4 points for each remaining game) but I'm pretty sure I would have to win a tie breaker if I got that close.

Congrats Col. You have proved a bunch of us wr... wr... INCORRECT!

KY has had the most talent on the floor all year (IMO) but played ike 5 individuals up until tourney time. I guess they got a clue....

At least there isn't a single Big East team in the Tourney this year...;-)
Posted Friday March 28, 2014, About: Delany Vs. O'Bannon: Bluster or Bond?
I think the article pointed out that these cases wouldn't be settled or years, but the eventual cumulative affects weren't gonna be good.

The author felt it was best if the opposing sides came together and came up with solutions acceptable for both sides; the NCAA has been taking a stance for... well, forever, that "...this is like the guy who wins a multi-million dollar lawsuit against X company that then goes into appeal for years and years and never gets a dime." The result is they are under siege and losing every case so far. If the NCAA continues with their assumptions those in power may make it through (most of them are old) but the next generation will inherit a situation that is untennable.

Most peeps seem to think that nothing's gonna change, things will continue on as they always have. I don't share that optimistic view, but hope you are right.

Pretty good article covering all that the NCAA is facing right now, possible outcomes and solutions:
