The Red Wings rule. That's all that matters. =)
He's not, however, worried about his job.
Also, Sam I Am will rock as a coach. One of the savviest, wiliest NBA players ever. Also crazy (in a good way)!
He might or might not be a Hall of Famer, but I've seen him play in person a little more than half a dozen times (including with Team USA)... he's used to be a really entertaining and dynamic player.
But everyone knows small guards don't age well, and he's one of the smallest guards in the league. He should retire, but not because no one wants him. He's just abusing his body at this point. He has had a great career, marked with some stupid decisions and poor practicing habits. Should he ever make the HoF, I would not protest. He certainly deserves consideration.
A lot of people dislike him in here, apparently, because he seems like he might be another troubled NBA player (which, so far, he is not). Labeling a player as "not very good" because you dislike the fact that he's loud is just stupidity. He's obviously a talented player, especially considering his size. Will he ever be an all-star? No. But he's definitely a great scoring option off the bench.
I hope this is parody. Phil Jackson has *nine* rings because he's arguably the best NBA coach of all time (Red, of course, being the person you would argue otherwise).
The other thing this article mentions, which is misleading... Harris is putting up gaudy numbers with NJ, but he wouldn't be doing that with Dallas. And Jason Kidd has been his old self lately. The Mavs right now are actually in striking distance of their division lead and turned it around quite a bit. The Mavs are not the Suns; they have a good team and a good core. If they got Sheed for just cap relief, rather than unloading their bench youth, it could potentially make them a contender. Not better than LA / Boston / Cleveland, but certainly a dangerous team.
This can't be a real offer. Miami would never make such an idiotic trade when they know NY has to buy out Marbury at some point.
The problem is that his low post scoring is literally the only NBA-level aspect of his game. That a player that size can't play a lick of defense or rebound... pass or block... he's just too one-dimensional and perpetually out of shape.
If the Mavs are not playing well, it's hardly Dirk's fault. The team has been anemic and while Dirk is still one of the ten best basketball players in the WORLD, they aren't going to compete in the West unless Howard, Terry, Kidd and the rest of the Mavs play with more consistency.
By the way, this is one of the most awesome free agent thefts EVER. The one year tenure allows them to resign Hossa after they lock up Zetterberg and Franzen. And did anyone notice they also resigned Stuart for peanuts too? This is the best run franchise in sports. They're like the Spurs of the NHL, except they're even better.
Gerald Green might be a nice signing. He just needs to get his butt kicked around a little bit, but there's some talent to work with. Depends on how much he'll work for it, which is the question mark he had with Boston and Minnesota.
If Rashard Lewis is making max money in Orlando, then Arenas is far, far more deserving of that kind of cash. He is an immediate impact player. Washington has been a playoff team since signing him, His stats last year were not impressive because he was injured most of the year, but remember this guy has averaged something like 27 ppg throughout the last 4 seasons for a playoff team. This is not a guy putting up garbage numbers for a bad team. He's real good. The only real criticism of Arenas is that he's not a two-way player; he lacks defensive acumen, but then again, so does that entire Washington team.
The other issue is that while Kobe is one of the NBA's 10 best players, he's simply lacking the leadership qualities to anchor a championship team. He doesn't make people around him better. So LA needs a veteran bench, veteran voices on the team who do not simply allow him to harp on them for every mistake they make, while at the same time expecting them to sit silent while he takes dozens of bad 15 footers and 3 pointers. Kobe is excellent, but as we learned these finals, he's not Jordan, and he never will be. So LA has to build around him accordingly. You can win a title with Kobe, just not without another dominant player and a deep bench.
It's good for her to keep reminding the press, precisely because the Knicks will sell out games regardless of whether or not they're winning. That's a huge issue for David Stern; Dolan is still making some money, but the Knicks sucking robs the league of revenues from nationally televised regular season and playoff games, plus whatever Knicks-related gear gets sold. Sexual harassment and the hiring of Marbury's cousins are just the tip of the iceberg of how bad of a franchise the Knicks are; on the court we see the true product of that mess every game.
