He's under contract through next season as well. A Year older than Beltran, and not as productive obviously, but what do you do with him? For $12mil, you don't bench the guy, do you?
What do you do with Berkman? He's played more games at 1B than any other position and that's where they'll put him. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/teams/depth-chart/STL
Also, how do you figure he's not as productive as Beltran? Over the last three seasons, the two have the exact same OPS+, 141, and Berkman's been healthy enough to rack up 35% more plate appearances than Beltran in that time.
Concerns over Hanson's injury are legitimate and serious. A pitcher that young with shoulder issues is not good.
While Jurrjens' current injury isn't as concerning, the fact that he's only been able to pitch a full season's worth of innings once in four tries support Outlaw's concerns regarding his durability.
After surgery at age 36, you have to at least wonder -- if not worry -- about Hudson's durability.
That said, I'd agree with the frog. The Braves have a lot of arms which gives them options. It's just that with the questions regarding their durability/effectiveness, that depth is necessary.
The largest contract ever signed by a pitcher is CC's 8 yr, $182M deal. Kershaw could get a 9 yr deal starting at $25M/yr that increases 3% per yr for a total of $254M. It would admittedly be a large jump from CC's deal, but not outside the realm of possibility for a desperate team.
I can't keep quiet on this. Sabathia never signed an 8 year/$182m deal. It was 7 years and $161m, which is the largest contract ever signed by a pitcher. A $250m contract for Kershaw would be 55% larger than the largest contract ever signed by a pitcher. It's not going to happen.
Seriously, right should lose this TD becasue of these major gaffes.

So, what do the windows on the short bus taste like?

I'm amazed that Colletti has a job. Same with Sabean.
You both suck.
