In that case Jim Rice is a **** moron, who doesn't deserve an opinion, recognition in the public eye, or entrance into the hall of fame. Jeter has done NOTHING but play the game with the utmost class and respect for the game. There could not possibly be a better baseball to model yourself after in terms of how to do things right on and off the field.

Can you guys who have more than 5000 posts on sportsillustrated's website please just start a forum or make facebook accounts or twitter accounts or something? I mean come on do you really need 1100+ comments, 99.9% of which are completely off topic, on a single sports rumor? It's such an odd/inconvenient place to carry on your banter, which by all means do, just not here.

Forums would be much more organized, you could actually find old topics, most are free, you don't need any random person coming into your circle of friends (have you guys ever actually met in person?, not that it matters I'm just curious) the list of reasons why you guys should just set up your own thing goes on and on. Here it's 20 comments a page, you can never find where that conversation about going to a yankees game went, because you have no idea what rumor you were under when you brought it up, or the rumor got deleted, and the "moderators" don't exist.
Posted Monday June 15, 2009, About: What's wrong with Santana?
Yeah lets not forget this is what they were saying when the yankees were thinking about trading for Santana. His stuff was the best in the game then, but Santana was primarily a changeup pitcher, so when his fastball lost velocity as he got older there was a pretty good chance his numbers would sharply drop as he fooled batters less. That was one of the main reasons the yankees didn't pull the trigger, they didn't think Santana would be as effective as Hughes for as long as Hughes. Were they right? Maybe. But even if this incident is due to an injury, it's a preview of the future, as he gets older his fastball will top out where it is now.

And Big Chris, generally winning 2/3 games is a won series, no two ways around it. The yankees won the series get over yourself.
Posted Sunday June 07, 2009, About: Profane Rios done as Blue Jay?
oh how the mighty have fallen. Since the 2007 HR derby, Rios' career has been trending downwards, and this only reinforces that trend.

Even money says he's on the Mets before the all star break. They need a RF who can actually play defense and hit, and they'd be willing to take his contract definitely. The only question is do the Jays like anyone in the Mets farm system enough to seal the deal.
Posted Sunday June 07, 2009, About: Did Girardi disrespect Rivera?
How is that disrespectful? Evan Longoria is one of the best offensive 3B's in the league already, and though Upton has begun to turn it around of late, he's hitting .220 on the season. I would consider it disrespectful to the fans if Girardi didn't walk Longoria to get Upton because he wouldn't be trying everything possible to win the game.
Posted Monday April 06, 2009, About: Canseco: More big names on steroids list
Go watch the game and then tell me you can definitively say a guy with a body type like that was that big naturally in 2003, when no one was that big naturally. You would understand what I mean if you actually went back and watched one of his games in 2003, it's really hard to convey just how obvious it is he's on steroids without you actually looking at the same thing I'm seeing.

Oh and FWIW, I do sorta side with DT Knows best though he's being remarkably candid about it, I find it hard to see how you guys can really be being productive in life, and accomplishing meaningful things, when you spend so long on sportillustrateds comments sections... Ignore me if you want, I'm just voicing my opinion
Posted Monday April 06, 2009, About: Canseco: More big names on steroids list
Manny was absolutely on steroids... I went back and rewatched the yankees game 7 2003 ALCS with Boone's walkoff homer (I have it on DVD), you can CLEARLY see Manny and Pedro looked a lot more like Clemens and Bonds in that game than they do now if you get my drift... Tell me you don't see the difference in these pictures (these pictures aren't great but if you go watch a game from 2003, you'll be shocked at how much Manny has changed and how big he was back then):

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/si/2009/writers/jon_heyman/02/23/scoop.monday/Manny- Ramirez-SI-2.23.jpg

I can't wait for the other 103 names to come out so the Red Sox who were shielded by the Mitchell Report can finally get theirs. This has gone on long enough, pretending the Red Sox, with players such as Varitek Papi Nixon Manny and Pedro CLEARLY being on steroids just from looking at them, and people pretending the Red Sox were the class of the majors through the steroids era. Since A-Rod's name was released, I want justice, and for the Red Sox to have a nice big asterisk next to their first WS in 86 years *20/25 players were reported to have tested positive for illegal performance enhancing drugs in 2003 who went on to win the 2004 World Series.
Posted Sunday April 05, 2009, About: Zambrano wants new Cubs field
Yankee Stadium used to lead that group with more championship memories, and more great players having played there than in any other sports stadium in the country... *sob*

Oh well I guess we'll just have to get used to the new YS. I used to think certain ballparks had a mistique about them that could never be taken away, but with the new ballpark in the bronx, this untouchable status must not really exist.

Oh and Zambrano you are an idiot. You like the features in new stadiums, request a trade, but we aren't tearing down a national monument to baseball because you want a thinkpad in your locker and a 60" HDTV to play The Show on.
Posted Sunday March 29, 2009, About: Jeter destined for center field?
Yeah... The whole point of this article is that Jeter's defensive abilities are diminishing, thanks for your keen insight, no one realized jeter's "range factor" was decreasing. I think your range factor stats are greatly exaggerating the problem. You quoted his stats from 04 and 05, who wasn't pitching then? Chein Ming Wang. How do you know that part of this range factor (though obviously some of it is due to Jeter getting worse, or there wouldn't be an issue) isn't because there are just more groundballs going up the middle with Wang on the mound? It's not fair to definitively say x amount more runners are getting on base and y runners are scoring directly because of Jeter's defense.

You also mentioned Jeter would make a terrible CF. That's just untrue. As others have said, Jeter's first step, key at ss, won't matter nearly as much in CF. Jeter still has above average speed for a CF, a cannon for an arm, and he could easily learn the position. It would make more sense for him to play left, of course, but he is the captain, and if he says he's playing SS or CF, that's where he's going.
Posted Sunday March 15, 2009, About: Youkilis wants Peavy in Boston
it's spring training, lets not get too excited. You can't find a more meaningless stretch of games played by professional sports teams than spring training in baseball.

And Jake Peavy=Kevin Brown. There is no way I'd want to see him in a yankees uni over hughes who last year was the second youngest player in the majors aside from justin upton and who until his last start hadn't allowed a run in ST this year.

I'll bet the red sox are gonna go get Peavy though, they are five years behind the yankees in how to GM a team 101. This year they got old injury prone decent in the NL and/or ineffective pitchers, hmm I wonder if the yankees have tried that before (pavano wright brown randy livian etc.) get ready sox fans you're in for some painful years...
Posted Saturday December 27, 2008, About: Hughes may replace Pettitte in Yankees' plans
Hmm... That 2009 prediction looks a lot like the 2008 final standings... Only one problem with that--The Yankees and Rays have gotten significantly better (the Rays have so much youth they improve just by having another year of experience) while the Red Sox have gotten worse (bringing out nearly the same roster minus a half year of Manny's bat).

Seems like there is one team in the East that just isn't keeping up with the other two. It's completely illogical to say the Red Sox will be a better team than the yankees when they barely were last year. But looking at the rest of your post I guess you don't care about logic...
Posted Wednesday December 17, 2008, About: Furcal going to Braves or Dodgers?
Furcal just has the most miserably handled free agency in recent memory. Every time he rejects a deal, he is offered less by the next team interested in him. He needs to go to his agent say "F*** you, you're fired" and ask the Braves to please please pay him 10 mil a year for three years before it goes down again. I mean, right at the beginning, he was looking at nearly 14 mil for 3 years now it's at 10 mil.
Posted Thursday December 11, 2008, About: Did Yankees overpay for overweight CC?
Honestly, I couldn't care less that the yankees overpaid for C.C. As a yankees fan who goes to games regularly(though I may not now with the new stadium) I want to see the yankees win games and championships. If C.C. helps them accomplish that, great. Am I supposed to feel guilty or something that the Steinbrunners commit $10 Million $100 Million or $200 Million to a single player? Their net worth is in the billions I could not care less how much they chose to pay to let me see my team win championships
Posted Friday November 07, 2008, About: Boras: Manny never comfortable in Boston
What's next, Boras: "I've known Manny his whole career." I mean come on, how could Boras know how Manny felt in Boston, he WASN'T MANNY'S AGENT IN BOSTON!
Posted Saturday October 04, 2008, About: Yankees, Pirates deny trade talk
I would give them Brett Gardner and Ian Kennedy no questions asked straight up for McLouth. If you don't think the pirates would do this you haven't seen their organizational decisions over the past two decades.

If we got McLouth and signed Teixeira our lineup would be
Damon
Jeter
Nady
A-Rod
Teixeira
Matsui
McLouth
Posada
Cano

Cano hitting in the ninth spot=scary lineup 1-9...
Posted Thursday September 04, 2008, About: Giambi loses bout with door
yankeefan, no way.

We need to get Teixeira at 1B, probably more than we need C.C. pitching. Bringing back Giambi, regardless of cost, would be the worst thing that could possibly happen. He isn't even a .250 hitter anymore!
Posted Thursday September 04, 2008, About: Worker beats LeBron at H-O-R-S-E
" still I see he do not have the passion like Bryant to be the best. "

It would be does not.

And why would he, or anyone in the NBA, have passion playing against some random dude? In fact, if he exhibited passion, he needs to take a step back and chill the FK out.
Posted Thursday September 04, 2008, About: Worker beats LeBron at H-O-R-S-E
so this must mean that King James is worse than a worker????

Pointless story. Why would James even waste his time putting out an effort in this mock competition?

The fact is James could beat any player in the NBA in a one on one game (he was as good as or better than the best player in every category on the Redeem team, look it up). This is just another meaningless story.
Posted Sunday April 27, 2008, About: Did Lions offer Williams to Dallas?
First!

Williams and Owens would be the best recieving duo in the league, blowing the colts and Bengals out of the water
Posted Sunday February 03, 2008, About: Braves may not keep Teixeira
*Cough* Yankees *Cough*

Texiera is coming to the bronx. Come on. Giamboids is gone after this year, we have no real star firstbaseman, and we can afford him with what was the Santana Fund.

That offense would trump detroit's. A-Rod Jeter Cano Texiera, and then ?(abreu won't get re-signed, I don't think) Melky-Damon in the outfield, with Po behind the plate would terrorize pitchers around the AL.
