Posted Tuesday June 19, 2012, About: Kovalchuk not alone among Devils facing surgery
Nard - problem is, PDB is dammed if he does and dammed if he doesn't play Kovy. Kovy was injured - we knew that, but if PDB plays him too much OR too little, people will still complain. No win scenario for the coach.
Posted Friday March 23, 2012, About: Tortorella changing Rangers lines
On a truly newsworthy and positive note, they have a new picture of Torts!
Posted Tuesday March 13, 2012, About: Can the Wild bring Parise home?
Parise is playing so well right now with Kovalchuk (who is locked up forever) that I dont see him leaving (at least I hope). He wants a Cup so the teams that - A. have a CHANCE to win it (consistently) and - B. have the money are actually pretty limited.
Posted Tuesday February 21, 2012, About: Trade deadline nears holiday status in Canada
OK the Sports Illustrated swimsuit banner at the top of this site is just a little distracting... Then the Brian Burke at Mardi Gras photo brings me back to reality.
Posted Tuesday February 21, 2012, About: Avs' Giguere on the block?
I love how a Giguere post turns into dog show commentary. Great back and forth fellas - thanks for the chuckles. Fat ladies in suits and sensible shoes... too funny.
Posted Thursday February 16, 2012, About: Ovechkin 'wrapped up too much' in star status
IMO, I think he is actually suffering from Crosby not being in the league right now. They were the two most talked about and competitive players in the NHL and with Crosby out, Ovie doesn't have an "enemy" anymore.
Posted Monday February 13, 2012, About: Amnesty clause coming to NHL?
"Too big to fail" Part Deux...
And to think I was ticked off when Blomez went to the Rangers. Good riddance... SCOTTTTTT!!!!!
Posted Thursday February 09, 2012, About: Ex-NHLer Richer: 'I tried to kill myself'
Wow - sorry to read this. Depression is a tough disease and the medicines out there only mask the issues. In fact, the side effects of those drugs are "thoughts of suicide" - huh? Here's a guy who just won at the highest level in hockey and he suffers depression. Glad he's working to be a solution and I wish him luck and thank him for '95.
Posted Wednesday February 01, 2012, About: Devils keeping Parise? For now
Hey have you heard??? The Post is saying that the Devils may keep Parise while at the same time trade him before the dealine. That's not all... Parise said that when he signs a long-term deal with NJ that they only team he would want to be traded to is the Rangers.
Posted Monday January 30, 2012, About: If Devils shop Parise, Wild and Kings are interested
This is one of those times I wish Lou would just sign a player and not make the fans go through this waiting game...
Posted Tuesday January 24, 2012, About: Richards unhappy with Cooke's 'cheap play'
I agree with Rex. Slew foot is such a dangerous play but after seeing the video, it appears to me that Cooke was going faster than Richards, they both turned and Cooke took out Richards legs. Didn't look intentional - looked more like an odd collision with unfortunate results.
Posted Wednesday January 18, 2012, About: Tortorella on owner's comment: Bunch of [bull]
Those are the types of quotes opposing teams hang in their locker rooms as inspiration.
Posted Monday December 19, 2011, About: Brodeur: I'll know when it's time to go
I have 2 scenarios in my head...

1. He signs for 1 year at $2 mil as the back-up and to mentor a new young goalie
2. He AND Lou retire at the end of this season.
Posted Thursday December 15, 2011, About: Julien snaps Marchand for slew-foot
One of the most dangerous play in the sport IMO. You can twist your knee, bang your head on the ice...
Posted Thursday December 15, 2011, About: Rangers take early lead on '24/7' stage
OK so I'm no fan of either team and you can dish on me - thats fine but as an open-minded observer, I found myself wondering when the show would start. I'll admit it was cool to see the inner workings of NHL teams and hear the discussions on and off the ice but overall I just thought it was dull. I checked my guide to see if it was 2 hours long figuring it was working up to something. I dozed off mid-way so maybe I missed the best part???!!!

It just seemed to jump all over the map and each segment was just a glimpse - there was no "storyline" to go along with it.

Where's the build-up to the WC? Tell me how these teams are rivals. Show me some history, fights, headlines - whatever. Instead of telling me why I should get excited to see these 2 teams duke it out, I have to watch Sean Avery doing a fashion shoot... Really?
Posted Friday December 09, 2011, About: Caps won big in realignment
Could they??? edit the ??? out of this??? article before they ???post it? (or am I the only 1 with all the ??? in the text?)

Anyway... All-in-all, the alignment looks ok but I'm not clear why the 2 Florida teams are with the "northern" teams...
Posted Friday December 09, 2011, About: Brodeur in another uniform?
He's too engrained in New Jersey. His kids are schooled here, they play hockey here...etc. I could see him signing a 1 or 2 year deal for $2 mil and grooming a younger replacement. IF (big IF) he were to ever entertain going somewhere else, it would ONLY be Montreal... but he won't.
Posted Wednesday October 26, 2011, About: Pronger's frightening injury distracts Flyers
Gotta wear a face shield. This game is way too fast and between sticks and pucks - you're nuts not to wear one. Just ask Colin White. He was injured in practice and now wears a shield.

Not a Pronger fan by any means, but I hope he recovers and has no permanant damage.
Posted Friday October 14, 2011, About: Devils depart from tradition, embrace offense
I think his "go for the win" came right after Marty got injured (or tweaked as he says). You could noticably see a change in the Devils play after that. It was similar to the difference between the 1st and 2nd half last year... playing not to lose vs playing to win. It was a great win - 79 more to go...
Posted Thursday October 13, 2011, About: Avery causing more problems for Stars
Amazing. Avery causes problems when he's NOT EVEN ON THE TEAM anymore... Enjoy Hartford, I hear they have a faaabulous fashion district Sean.
Posted Thursday October 13, 2011, About: Ovechkin was never fat, but now he's a beast
So basically he's looking more and more like Jaws from the James Bond movies???
