Nard - problem is, PDB is dammed if he does and dammed if he doesn't play Kovy. Kovy was injured - we knew that, but if PDB plays him too much OR too little, people will still complain. No win scenario for the coach.
Parise is playing so well right now with Kovalchuk (who is locked up forever) that I dont see him leaving (at least I hope). He wants a Cup so the teams that - A. have a CHANCE to win it (consistently) and - B. have the money are actually pretty limited.
OK the Sports Illustrated swimsuit banner at the top of this site is just a little distracting... Then the Brian Burke at Mardi Gras photo brings me back to reality.
I love how a Giguere post turns into dog show commentary. Great back and forth fellas - thanks for the chuckles. Fat ladies in suits and sensible shoes... too funny.
IMO, I think he is actually suffering from Crosby not being in the league right now. They were the two most talked about and competitive players in the NHL and with Crosby out, Ovie doesn't have an "enemy" anymore.
"Too big to fail" Part Deux... And to think I was ticked off when Blomez went to the Rangers. Good riddance... SCOTTTTTT!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7O7sBg-iJc
Wow - sorry to read this. Depression is a tough disease and the medicines out there only mask the issues. In fact, the side effects of those drugs are "thoughts of suicide" - huh? Here's a guy who just won at the highest level in hockey and he suffers depression. Glad he's working to be a solution and I wish him luck and thank him for '95.
Hey have you heard??? The Post is saying that the Devils may keep Parise while at the same time trade him before the dealine. That's not all... Parise said that when he signs a long-term deal with NJ that they only team he would want to be traded to is the Rangers.
I agree with Rex. Slew foot is such a dangerous play but after seeing the video, it appears to me that Cooke was going faster than Richards, they both turned and Cooke took out Richards legs. Didn't look intentional - looked more like an odd collision with unfortunate results.
OK so I'm no fan of either team and you can dish on me - thats fine but as an open-minded observer, I found myself wondering when the show would start. I'll admit it was cool to see the inner workings of NHL teams and hear the discussions on and off the ice but overall I just thought it was dull. I checked my guide to see if it was 2 hours long figuring it was working up to something. I dozed off mid-way so maybe I missed the best part???!!!
It just seemed to jump all over the map and each segment was just a glimpse - there was no "storyline" to go along with it.
Where's the build-up to the WC? Tell me how these teams are rivals. Show me some history, fights, headlines - whatever. Instead of telling me why I should get excited to see these 2 teams duke it out, I have to watch Sean Avery doing a fashion shoot... Really?
He's too engrained in New Jersey. His kids are schooled here, they play hockey here...etc. I could see him signing a 1 or 2 year deal for $2 mil and grooming a younger replacement. IF (big IF) he were to ever entertain going somewhere else, it would ONLY be Montreal... but he won't.
Gotta wear a face shield. This game is way too fast and between sticks and pucks - you're nuts not to wear one. Just ask Colin White. He was injured in practice and now wears a shield.
Not a Pronger fan by any means, but I hope he recovers and has no permanant damage.
I think his "go for the win" came right after Marty got injured (or tweaked as he says). You could noticably see a change in the Devils play after that. It was similar to the difference between the 1st and 2nd half last year... playing not to lose vs playing to win. It was a great win - 79 more to go...

1. He signs for 1 year at $2 mil as the back-up and to mentor a new young goalie
2. He AND Lou retire at the end of this season.

Anyway... All-in-all, the alignment looks ok but I'm not clear why the 2 Florida teams are with the "northern" teams...
